He blew several jump hooks that he absolutely needs to make. That's all on Yao. He uses the pump fake to try to basically drive by his man, but apparently defenders aren't going for that anymore, except crappy ones like Andrew Bynum.

I noticed at the end of the game there were several instances when he got good position but didn't get the ball, can't blame his teammates for not wanting to pass to him tonight.

The majority of the shots Yao took were single covered and makable. He needs to spend more time studying the game tapes vs Utah. It seems to me he didn't learn much from the mistakes in those games he played. That's more troubling than anything else. It's all mental.

the shots he launched tonight were basically all out of his comfort zone, including the one hookshot he made late in the game from near the ft line. he just needs to gain deeper position. simple as that.

there are many factors. in this game, the refs pretty much took yao out earlier. yao bumped boozer and got whistled second time but at same time he didn't get calls on two consecutive possessions when he tried to shoot and got bumped. he was whistled for moving screen when yao handed off to bonzi. what weak call it is! the refs felt guilty and had to blow 2 fouls on utah immediately after this instance. clearly refs tried to make up their faults. however, yao had to sit down with 3 fouls.

on yao's side, he did rush a lot of shots in 1st and 3rd qts (he didn't play 2nd due to foul problem). after one timeout, yao clearly got some advices from our coach. he settled down and made some important ones in crucial time.

You have to admit Boozer had many easy shot over Yao tonight. I was frustrated to see that.

remove your yao blinders. you cant tell me that yao was not torched by boozer tonight. the game changed when scola came in for yao and him and hayes guarded boozer well. yao is simply a bad matchup defensively for us against the jazz.

Hardly as you put it. Those shots are not desperate last second shots and they are definitely within his range. He didn't quickly get in a groove to start the game, apparently still adjusting to Adelman's system. With the freedom he gets from Adelman, Yao should feel no qualm moving into the low post if his mid-range game doesn't work out well. That's something he needs to take into his own hand, so to speak.

Credit to Utah's initial game strategy that put immediate pressure on Yao with Boozer's relentless attacking to the rim. But Yao did a much better job defending Boozer later in the fourth quarter in the low post, only allowing him to hit high arched outside jumpers. The season is only two games young, it's therefore ridiculous to write off Yao as a hapless Rocket in any matchup.

Boozer is a all-star player. It is impossible to stop him completely. I am very impressive of Yao's block on Boozer in crucial time. :)

Yao Ming seems to be working on what CD told him to do: use the hook shot as his go-to move. He hit a lot of those vs. Lakers. Not so much tonight, but he kept launching.. and finally a few dropped toward the end. Even as he struggles, however, he gave 100% effort on both ends.

when there is a common denominator, such as boozer going off on 15 foot shots all night long against yao, you have to be real stubborn to say yao is not overmatched. oh no, he is not overmatched by size, but boozer is not a good matchup for yao anyway you put it.

You would think winning cures everything and there would be less negative threads but for some reason this message board is always negative even after a win!

To be honest outside of James and T-Mac, I don't really think we played all that well, especially offense. I thought we had average or slightly below par tonight with that being said.

This Houston team is going to be very scary down the stretch. Even though it's early in the year, we just beat a team that went to Western Conference Finals and eliminated us from the playoffs. The same team who haven't beaten in Utah in like a year and we have below .500 record over last several seasons.

Tonight, we went in there took control of the game and won handily against a rough crowd and one of the premier teams in WC, and not even playing our best ball.

    wow.

yes he is an allstar, and also yao has no chance in shutting him down, chalk that up to him being an allstar and yao unable to stop boozer's shot or his quickness.

yao matches up with just about any team in the league, utah is one of the few.

this is NOT a yao hate... it is what it is

so what, Tmac torched all of them

in other games the will switch and Yao will own and Tmac will score under 90 pts this time, err 47pts

STOP ARGUING PEOPLE, ITS BAD LUCK
