So now that he's in the Hall, I'm guessing the jersey retirement ceremony is going to be this year? It's been 3-4 years since they announced it.

Yao is my favorite rocket ever. Something about the guy was just so likeable. Still think we coulda won the championship that year he broke his foot against the lakers.

what if china hadn't abused him so much during offseasons.
what if he was given more time to rest during offseasons.

    so pity.

    No love for Adelman?

Or is it that Adelman showed no love?

Adelman probably wasn't around. I also don't know that Adelman had the same close relationship with Yao that JVG did.

I'm not saying the two weren't close, but out of the three guys that coached Yao, I think JVG and he were the closest.

Yao's best season was the last season JVG coached him, but Yao's last durable season - and one of the most memorable playoff runs in recent Rocket history - was under Adelman (08-09). Rick only got one complete season out of Yao, unfortunately.

Breaks my heart a little to think what could have been.

Crazy to think Yao and Rick didn't have a close relationship, yet players like Lowry, Mike Bibby, and so many others publicly praise him regularly.

There are several others, just can't think off the top of my head

Rudy and Yao would have had the stronger relationship if Rudy didn't have cancer.

I think Rudy would let Yao do more than just be a post up center.
