I don't think it's directed to the coach. If Yao thinks there's no game plan by RA, then he is the one who is blind. WAtch the game again and you will see what Yao meant. This team will not be the same again. Could be worse or better. We'll see how the other players would react to this.
Maybe you are right. If this is true, we might as well forget winning a championship, ever. It wont happen with this duo.
I don't think the coaches are totally absolved even if he meant no adherence to the game plan. Players bear ultimate responsiblity to execue, but coaches also have some responsibility to prepare players to execute their plan-- and making sure those who are underprepared don't play.
I HOPE YAO GETS REALLY PISSED SOON AND GOES OFF ON TMACS BAD DECISIONS, RICK ADELMAN'S BAD COACHING, RAFER'S BAD SHOOTING, AND THE TEAM'S BAD EFFORT; OH, HE ALREADY DID SOME OF THAT! LET'S SEE WHAT YAO IS LIKE WHEN HE BECOMES MEAN!
I wouldn't say our players won't figure it out and run the same successful offense as Kings player did at the end of the day. Give us time, 2 to 3 years. Problem is do we have that much of time left?
Yao Ming too much talking and too little action!! It is about time that you put your foot down and tell all the scrubs on the team that you are taking over and want at least 30 touches per game You should tell Les that Coach A is not working out You should realise that you are a failure till you become the man on this team. You will be remembered as a Houston Failure till you take command and dominate. It is about time in your career that you live up to your potential, at present you have become a ROLE playerand are going backwards instead of upwards and forward!! Believe you me this is coming from a great fan of yours who wants to see you reach your potential.
Someone posed your question at Feigen's blog: http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2007/12/rockets_sink_yaos_anger_rises.html
Well maybe should play better defense and not let hes opponents get so many offensive boards. he was getting torched by a scrub like humphries.
Funny, aside the one game last night, T-Mac has been very unselfish and is a great team player. Did everyone forget the triple double a couple nights ago? Clutchfans is starting to become a joke. Apparently, one game can change your whole career and can mean more than you think. Here, he has this one bad game where he didn't pass the ball as much and now's hes a selfish ballhog that shoots too much?
It's easy to forget when you do it once in a blue moon or worse, by accident. If tmac is genuinely unselfish, it's the average numbers that counts. It's funny to think, with his current number, he would have taken 80% of the shots. . That's not just selfish, that's sick basketball.
The next time that happens will be the first... At what point do we stop blaming the coach(es) and start blaming the players? Sorry, but these guys are making too much money to come out and lay eggs like yesterday. These are big boys, not high school kids. They shouldn't need their coach or anyone else to motivate them. Stop talking to the media about getting tough and playing better and start DOING IT.
Players already got blamed. There are many trade TMac threads, Rafer sucks threads, what's a Mike James lover to do threads. Players shouldn't come out without intensity, but at times, they do. It's a reality in today's NBA (and probably in yesterday's NBA, too). The question for management and coaches is what you do when that happens. Morey and Adelman, too, get paid pretty handsomely. Not like Tracy or Yao or even Mike James, but still a big chunk of money. It's Adelman and Morey's job to figure out such questions.
C'mon now. What "should" be doesn't matter. In the NBA & NFL, coaches must be motivators or they will fail. Just because players make a lot of money doesn't mean they are self-motivated, especially with guaranteed contracts. When the team as a whole plays with no life like they don't care, it's a coaching problem. If one or two guys are a problem and the rest of the players are with the program, that's another story.
Intensity evaporates if your superstar is playing like it's his point that only counts. Tmac's random forced jumpers hurt team spirit.
He started forcing jumpers-- and drives, too-- when other guys did nothing with his passes. In the past, TMac's forced shots had jump-started the offense sometimes when it's in a rut. Rockets won a lot of games during the last few years with him doing exactly that and even Van Gundy said you gotta give guys like McGrady freedom to maximize team peformance. So, I don't neccesarily blame his shot selection... but his body language at the end of game was horrible. Even if he's frustrated, he shouldn't act like that.
