It means "I can do damage in the low post," a fairly neutral and correct statement. Pryuen had the right idea but he went with a more literal translation instead of going by context, which gets the connotations messed up.

Hey YOSOH, according to your peanut-sized brain, anyone who thinks Yao should spend more time in the lower post is a YOF? Your stupidity continues to amaze me.

Yao's low post game was getting more then a bit too predictable (shades of Utah.) Forcing the other team to respect his jumper will makes his interior play that much more lethal. What I saw Yao do against the Dallas scrubs was a revelation, this will work out and he will still put up awesome numbers.

It's not even more literal. The literal translation says nothing about "dominant."

    The "translator" made that up.

Maybe I am too old to accept internet slangs.

As a Chinese, I can easily understand where "maizi" is from.

The Chinese translation of "McGrady" has a word "Mai" in it, then they call him "maizi", which is "wheat" in English, but it is nothing related with TMAC the player. This kind of nickname is just lazy, irrelavent, and yes, lame. You can use it in BBS, chat, talk because it is quick, but you print it on paper, say it on TV ?..... it is inappropriate.

Stoudmire's nickname is as bad as this one. "little S"?

"Lao Da" is even worse.

Oh...I didn't know you are Chinese, I apologize.

So, my Chinese buddy, what's your comment on Shaquille O'Neal's nick name which is Shaq?

They call him "Big Shark" which I suppose is appropriate. I always laugh when they talk about Jermaine O'Neal, he's always "Little O'Neal".

Shark sounds good to me. He is big and strong and nasty on the court just like a shark.

What is the meaning of Maizi here? A nice young man? Sounds like right.

    Yao likes sabonis.
I think Yao will like his new style of playing.

    Exactly ... "Read to Achieve".

It's not like this is the first time Adelman has specifically talked about not going away from Yao's strength in the low post, either.

So Francis isn't the only one who is struggling. Add Yao to the list. It will take about 2-3 months of playing together to gel and for Adelman to go over the games with film sessions before the guys get it. But when they do, watch out! by the way Francis T-Mac and Yao stayed in the locker room to watch it on TV? That makes a statement about Francis right there doesn't it for all those Rafer apologists out there.

Well the key question is how do we match up with the Suns and the Spurs. They both had our number last season especially the Suns. I think if we had met the Suns in the playoffs, we'd have been eliminated in 4.

Yes, it should be lovely. Even it is just a nick name, still has something in it.

Its more of a cultural thing other than being "smart" or " stupid". people find their own comfortable way to nickname their players, nothing wrong with that.
    :)
