For a lot of players, e.g. T-Mac, self doubt is a weakness. For Yao, it's a strength.

"The few of us, me, Maizi (Tracy McGrady), Lao Da (Steve Francis) did not even come out to the bench"

    I lol-ed when i read that.

If I'm not mistaken, Maize means "rice crop" in Chinese. It's probably playing off McGrady's name and a sign of endearment.

Lao Da means "number 1" or "big brother." It's kinda weird that Yao still thinks about Francis that way, but it's definitely not a bad thing for the team.

    Good read.

I am also curious to see how Rick will employ Yao's low post skills in this offense. Vlade and Miller were good in this system, but they were not centers that were known for their post up game. In that regard I hope Yao does not loose too much of what he learned from his time under JVG and forget where his bread and butter is.

You want motion and quick hitting reads to open the game up and break stagnation but you also need to freakin establish yao ming in the darn post.Yao is saying he needs time to realize that he isn't the low post player he thought he was. Rick can either win a championship or be a perenial failure,He has a dominant big man now so he can't make the same if we has shaq excuse, he also has a dominant wing player and he has a team that plays freaking defense.

Rick needs to stop bull jiving a use the strengths of this team and just build on what jeff left. He seems like he is just caught up in his system and in the process he is waisting Yao's hard work on his game in the post. Rick is turning the rockets into a jump shooting team with no low post threat, rick should just be adding on the already positive things built but instead he looks like he still doesn't want to win the big trophy.

Chill chill chill. You can't make hasty judgments yet. I haven't liked what I've seen in the preseason, but I won't come to any conclusions until a month of regular season play. Rick had to play 19 guys. We'll see how we do tonight against a great team and very good defense.

REAL ROCKETS FANS NEED TO MAKE MORE POSTS ABOUT YAO NOT BEING USED IN THE LOW POST. RICK IS TAKING YAO MING'S POST GAME AWAY AND DUMPING IT INTO THE TRASH.

The thing is bro I live in sacramento and I have watch rick adelman totally go away from what works to make his system the key even if it is forcing things that don't freaking work. He needs to balance the attack, throw it into yao, pound the low post and if they stop this go into your motion becasue the rockets aren't going to win it all and go far if they are depending on the system when in crunch time the great teams rely on their great players skills and heart and talent to get them over the hump.

From the looks of it he is trashing yao ming's superior post game for jump shots.

I just read the whole thing, and this was one of the more informative posts I've seen recently. Yao won't be used as much in the high post as has been the case in preseason. It seems he's been at 50/50 on high post/low post touches. I think it will be more like 20/80 when the real games begin.

Thanks a lot for the translation, pryuen.

Give me a break Daddycool. No need to shout or panic at this point.

Yao knows how to post up. He's done it for the last four years. What he hasn't done is work off the high post. So of course in the early going of a new offense he's going to work on what he doesn't know as well.

If in February he's still spending 80% of the time he's on the court in the high post.. then you can shout in panic.

    I love this line:

"I am lethal and dominant in the low post."

I think RA just want Yao to be more comfortable in the high post, that's why we are seeing Yao only in the high post. I am sure, its going to be like 70% low post and 30% high post once the season starts.

It is not only for Yao to take time to adapt the new system, I think it also takes time for coach A to figure out how to use Yao's low post skill in his system. I believe coach A really wants to use Yao's low post skill. I think Shaq was his pain when he lost to lakers. Yao may be a main reason why he wants to coach Rockets. He wants a big dominant man in the low post!

Hopefully he can figure out a way soon!

Sounds to me like Yao shouldn't have shown up to camp a week later than everybody else.

Better not take Yao out of the low post.

It will really hurt the team.

Yao is just now coming into his own as the dominant post player in the league.

If Yao spend more than 20% of his minutes in the high post Yao will take a big step backwards.

He is just shown that he can dominate the paint in the offensive end, whe have cried for 4 years about needing someone who could get the ball to Yao down low.

I don't want Yao shooting 15 ft fadeaways, that's what TMac, MJames, Francis, Head and the rest are supposed to do.

Keep pounding the ball into the paint and he'll find the open cutter or spot up shot if the double or triple team comes to him.
