Man.....he is THAT big and tall. If he had not exercised self-control on his diet, and indulged in junk foods/snacks, and doing nothing for 2 weeks......for a guy as big and tall as he is, it could easily be 20 to 30 lb.

Yao is so hardworking its unbelievable.

He is very inspirational for younger kids.
Nowadays i feel more ppl use their natural talents to succeed in games rather then through hard work and ethics and i think Yao shows how you can combine them both and see the end results..

Personally think, Yao Ming currenly would not think too much about making it for the playoff, as it would be unrealistic and almost impossible.

All he cares now is about making it back for the 2008 Olympics.

He understands he has to race against time if he has to recuperate and rehabilitate to return healthy and competitive to make it for the 2008 Olympics in August. So there is no time for him to waste idling at home doing nothing.

As for making the playoff, even if the Rockets makes it for the Final, personally don't think he could make it.

    My rationale being:

It will take him another 4 weeks to be able to do away with the crutches. That will already be April 17, the end of the regular season.

Normally, the playoff teams need to register 15 players (with 3 of them inactive on any single game during the playoff) for the playoff within 1 week (?) at the end of the regular season. Not sure the Rockets will risk wasting 1 player slot to register in Yao Ming's name. As then, he has yet to go full force on his rehabilitation.

So what Russ Paine said is really only a wishful thinking as it won't happen unless meeting the following conditions:-

    • the Rockets advances deep and further into the playoff and makes it to the Final
    • Rockets risks wasting 1 player's slot to register Yao Ming into the 15-player roster
    • Yao Ming recovers/rehabilitates in time to be 100% healthy
