After just one week in the States, Yao Ming has already become America's most stapled icon. He is reading to kids, and giving his part to the Houston community.

Just one second tho, is he reading a chinese book to the kids? Or is he reading it in Chinese, and then have his translator translate it into English? Or is he already a proficient American reader, having already learned the fruitful codes of the American Language?

ming is taking it all in he's stride, so far the stardom has'nt gone to he's head, he's been very humbel, man you guys in houston, sure know how to pick them gems through the draft :) :D :D :D ;) . first hakeem, then eddie, and now maybe the biggest gem of all YAO MING. my second team has allways been the rockets. you can count me on the rockets bandwagon, except when they clash with my blazers :D :D , other then that i can fit them in busy diary:D :D ;)

No actually Yao was reading to kids in the Compaq Center. There was a show about it on HISD channel 19 in Houston.

Unlike all those other players who participated in Read to Achieve accross the entire NBA. . .

If you watch NBA.com tv, they show lots of commercials with players reading to the kids. I always thought the best was Allen Iverson reading "the Little Engine that Could" to some little kids. Just seems like a fitting book for AI considering how small he is. I imagine there are going to be some literacy jokes like, "that's probably the only book AI can read. . ."

Yeah he was reading to the kids in the Compaq Center, but some of them were from a Chinese school.
