Sigh..... Why do we have to deal with irrational haters on a Rockets board?

FYI: Duncan dunked on a fewer percentage of his shot attempts than Yao did.
FYI: Ewing once got blocked by Muggsy Bogues. So this makes him a lesser player?

He is going to average 15 ppg and 12 APG and Challenge Steve Nash for League Assist Leader. Yao is going to be the epitomy of a Point Center :D

but yao is not on duncan/ewing level yet. and to get blocked by the likes of nate robinson definitely isn't gonna help his case cause he's probably inferior in other facets of the game already.

Yao also exceeded my expectation. I also thought he would turn out a slightly better version of Rik Smits. I think Yao should thank JVG for becoming the player he is today.

Yao has not been great in the playoffs. Which sucks...usually great players levitate their game in crunch time. Yao...oh well.

I mean look at Hakeem, Jordan, Shaq's stats when they are in the playoff when they just came into the league.

Well then you are comparing probably the top3 player to ever play the game. I don't know where yao or tmac will stack up against the greats, the are pretty good all stars. I just hope yao show up in the playoffs, regular season hardly matters.

At every single draft, you never expect even the no. 1 overall pick to become best in any catagory because of the incumbent. For example, who would have thought that Yao would be able to usurp Shaq at the time of the draft? Many thought that Yao would have to wait for Shaq to retire before claiming the no. 1 center spot, due to Shaq's dominance at the time (Lakers 3 peat), but now, Yao at 26, Shaq at 34, and Yao is undeniably the better player.

As a Rockets Fan, I would have to say that he could get better. However, I would say that even if he is the greatest nba player. Why not? He has the potential and he's been growing every year, I will always expect him to grow more.

Honestly though, he did pass my expectations because I didn't think he'd put up 20/9. Number 1 overall pick doesn't guarantee you an allstar. Look at Kwame Browne. Enough said.

To be honest, Yao haven't reached the expectation that I have since 2002. Maybe because I'm a Chinese fan and we (maybe)knew more about Yao than you American fans when he was drafted, so we(or should say I) have higher expectation for him. I have been hoping he can become the second come of Arvydas Sabonis of the former USSR but he is still not there, yet. Hope Adleman can help him to reach that level.

well if you're just comparing STATS in the playoffs, tmac is 29, 7, 7, 1.3, 1.1.

he does show up. last yr was just his first subpar playoff series. he never had the teams except for last yr.

He definitely exceeded my expectations. I never thought he would even approach being a 20 & 10 guy. I thought 15 & 8 was about all he would ever get.

He has however been the injury concern that I thought he might be. Hopefully he can avoid the injury bug this year.
