You have a point, but I think you also made my point for me. Because of Yao's girth, his body needed to recuperate from the rigors of the NBA season. It was never allowed to relax and let the stress of the 82+ games Yao had endured flow out of him. He was basically intensely training year-round. I believe this definitely was a factor in his body breaking down.

Also, I don't understand your assertion that "ig people don't last long in basketball." There are plenty of seven-plus-footers who had long, fruitful careers in the NBA.

He deserves it, people like Jalen Rose forget the Hall of Fame is not just NBA hall of fame it is the BASKETBALL Hall of fame....so what you do in the game of basketball counts, and as such Yao more than qualifies.

Well deserved Yao. That's a big man to be proud and the 5th great one of the franchise: Moses, Sampson, Hayes, Dream & Yao.

    exactly

not to mention, I always think of hall of fames generationally. Yao was arguably the best center of his generation (the post prime Shaq generation). Most will say Dwight was, but Yao was the far more talented player.

as bball players, d12 not even close to yao.
