I had initially thought this about Yao when he retired. I think he should stay out one more season, then try to make a comeback. Give the team another season develop.

Let the man rest as much as I wish for that miracle. He needs his off time. He played all year round (besides injury which didn't help) res up sir Yao we miss you but time to relax

Any one have any idea what kind of pain that guy has been through? Any clue how debilitating a foot injury really is? He will never play professional basketball again. It's between him ending up like Mchale or having a slight limp. He collapsed and had to retire at the peak of his game. He left it all on the court game 3 against LA. No yao ever again.

Yao's foot couldn't last 20 seconds a night over the course of a season.

The NBA is not like boxing or the WWE. The only player who ever made a legitimate post-retirement comeback in the NBA was MJ, and he retired injury free during the prime of his career. Also, Magic had a good All-Star game post-retirement, but we now know that being HIV positive is not a career-ending injury.

I wouldn't want Yao to risk his ability to walk any further.

to be fair, so did barkley, shaq, and Big Baby

although I know yao will never play again, the argument that he is happy with his wife and daughter and would never do it, makes me laugh...he would be coming back to play basketball...A GAME..., not go fight in a war and perhaps get killed...at worst, he could get hurt again and have his foot fixed again...rehab as a normal person, not an athlete..then return to his wife and daughter...people act like he would be making this huge Sacrifice to his family by playing basketball....you get paid millions to play a game..its a privliege
