to the conference finals, not to the finals...indiana lost to orlando in the eastern conference finals in 95...do you remember the tip dunk in 94 to send them to the finals...hakeem was better, but ewing was still great

u also should remember new york should have won the 94 finals had not been for john starks choking.

like it or not, ewing as a WARRIOR. even if u don't like him, u should have respected him. he was like the iverson for the big men. NY fans loved him like crazy. i had respect for him watching him go against hakeem.

again, even if you're a rocket fan, are u an NBA fan? do u recognize other players than rocket players? we love rocket basketball, but we also enjoy the game of basketball. if players play w/ heart and play the game the right way and are talented, i'm a fan.

patrick was that guy. obviously he wasn't as good as hakeem as i have stated MANY TIMES, but i respected patrick and what he did for the game.

again, be open-minded. i don't like kobe but i respect him as a player. i enjoy lebron james game. i love iverson's heart.

I can Admit Ewing was a Good player
    but
    not Great
and IMO not in the top 10

    Question: Ewing or Robinson
Ewing had more heart . . .Robinson had more Skills

Why did he not dominate Okur some of you really need to check yourself, Yao had the best mismatch of that series and did not dominate Okur who has NEVER been known as a defensive player.

Here are their head to head playoff stats:
    Okur 11pts 7reb on 38% shooting
    Yao 25pts 10reb on 44% shooting

I would call that utter and total domination

25 pts vs.11pts, at least it is overplayed. Also the people just underestimated the ablity of Okur on defensive end assuming that he is just a three-ponit shooter without much defensive abilty. He guards Duncan very well in the last three games in the playoff, we all know Duncan is the best PF in the NBA. Besides Yao can only play a low post-play very time, eveyone can figure it out in the playoff.

i put david robinson above him b/c he did win an MVP and a DPOY and he won a few rings at the end of his career.

but ewing was more than a "good" player.

he was a great player. hakeem is a super/legendary/once in a lifetime type of player.

    big difference.

if u look at STATS that is. okur was not their first option. he wasn't guarded by yao. he was a perimeter player.

yao is an inside player. shot less than 45%. got owned by boozer on the other end.

if anything, their frontcourt made it a wash w/ ours when that should nto have been the case.

Well, from what I saw of the Hakeem-Yao video, the main thing Hakeem was teaching Yao was attitude and mental toughness. At times it's as if Yao is a little afraid to cut loose on the court and take over because he is so much bigger than everyone else. What Hakeem talked about is the last step that Yao has to take to achieve greatness and that doesn't depend on any more "tutoring" from a coach. Yao has to develop the mindset to come out every night and dominate no matter what defenses are tossed his way. That's what the great ones like Duncan do and what Yao has to do also. This will be his 6th year and I doubt that he needs more instruction on how to play.

Why apologize? If the shoe fits. Obviously he is far superior to all of us. He needs his own thread where we can come and pay him homage  My 14 year old didn't write this, but I am sure he would show more respect to people on here than you have been showing.
