    10% shooting free throws!

seriously we need to learn from the spurs. they kinda coasted through the regular season so Timmy and Ginboli can get healthy (what they learned from losing to Dallas last year) so they can have a 100% healthy squad for the playoffs.

    The "ROBERT HORRY" model.

he's not top 10? 10 out of a whole lot of centers? dare i say yao would wish he could have had a career like patrick?

just b/c he's not as good as hakeem doesn't mean he's not good.

again, is patrick ewing not one of the top 10 centers (or close to it) to ever play the game?

i know you're a rocket fan, but have respect for other players.

i'm sure yao would wish he would be regarded like patrick when he retires b/c he's not even close to there yet.

you all jump on cd's bandwagon...the resuluts of yao next year will speak the truth. thibodeau just never brought along reporters to see what he did. let the old man have his day in the sun...just hold him singularly accountable next season.

When Yao's hopefully long career is done, I think he will be regarded as better than Pat Ewing.

Right now, in the same year of their career, who will you pick?

Yao (5th year) or Pat (5th year).

    Not even close, sorry.

    Yao physically overmatches Pat.
Yao is more intelligent than Pat.
Yao is better offenseive skills than Pat.

Yao would destroy Pat Ewing today. Not even close.

elementary school is out and im back...just you all get up off your knees in cd's office and deal with the facts...none of you know any of the participants involved...all you have is perceptions driven by the media. some like me know all the involved parties...no one has seen any of them teach in practice...so we really dont know anything except the results...now are you telling me cd is going to get better results...or do you just want variety for variety sakes?

I hate to say it after defending him the whole time, but articles like this make me happy about the transition. Why not let CD work with Yao as well???

Ha ha, no kidding. How much better is the guy supposed to be? He THRIVED in the old offense down on the block. But whatever. I'm glad Yao's working hard during the offseason and I'm glad Dawson is working with him. I couldn't really care less if Yao never took another elbow jumper in his life, but every coach deserves the opportunity to try out his ideas and I'm sure Yao will do fine regardless.

because too many teachers teaching different methods lead to a cluttered mind. thats why they dont have 5 different hitting coaches in baseball

Yeah! I mean WTF was JVG trying to do here? Make Yao mentally and physically tough enough to play his position in the NBA? How is that supposed to help them win? Good thing we have Adelman here now. He'll have Yao playing like Brad Miller in no time...

These folks have yet to hold CD accountable for the past 12 years of suck as the GM so what makes you believe that they will do the same for what he does to Yao?

Disagree strongly. I wonder what JVG thinks of this.

I think he'd pick Pat Ewing because Pat Ewing established JVG.

But from a pure player point of view, I think JVG would pick Yao hands down.

    Yao > Ewing offensively.
    Yao < Ewing rebounds
    Yao = Ewing defense

But Yao's dominance over Ewing offensively is what counts here.

Ewing would not be able to stop Yao Ming. Cannot. He'd need help here..

Ewing was 6'10. Yao 7'6. Sorry but physically Yao is just too big, too strong.

And he has too much of a soft touch.

And I saw Patrick Ewing when he was with the Knicks. I saw JVG too...hehe.

Seeing Yao Ming, I think he would have no problem handling Pat Ewing. But Pat Ewing would have problems dealing wiht Yao. Yao is just too big. too much offense and shooting ability.

Only Yao can say if he has a cluttered mind or not. None of us could, not you, not me, and definitely not JVG. If Yao likes the idea of learning from both Tom and CD, then why not? Tom and CD would both bring something different to the table, Yao could simply choose whichever is better for him. On one thing, Tom might be better, but on the other, CD might be better. If two things has conflicts, Yao could just choose the ones that's better for him.

According to the recent articles, it really sounds like Yao was amazed by how good CD is at coaching the big guys. Not to downgrade Tom, but this really translated into CD really did teach Yao something that he doesn't know before...

ewing is a hall of famer and at the minimum a top 15 center, arguably top 10.

just like how the national media has forgotten how good dream was, let's not dismiss that ewing was very good himself, even though he was an enemy.

The fact is, CD is still with Rockets, but Tom is out.
The fact is, CD is highly praised by Dream.
The fact is, we never get out of the 1st round with JVG's coaching.
The fact is, we lost to Utah in game 7, JVG got fired, Lindsey went to Spurs, Tom is looking for jobs elsewhere.
