Well said. All Star game is obviously a huge popularity contest. Thank you ESPN for the nightly jam sessions that make VC still receive such high vote count every year because of one dunk conest

If we all tried, we could make Deke the backup to Yao in ASG. lol

Is there a way to vote for Yao and Deke? With Deke as the write in vote? He's only 90,000 votes behind Miller. lol. Deke deserves another all star appearance before he retires.

If we can, I'll be writing him in from now on.

i hope yao is able to hold on to that slim lead of his over miller.

how is lebron so bad at getting votes? he has mega-popularity and is playing as well as just about anyone and yet he's 3rd just in the east in votes.

steve should make it. i figured at least lebron and AI would beat him and thought wade had a chance with his play and the attention shaq brings to the voting. the east sucks at forward and center so they may as well brings their guards. francis is 7th in the east by my count so even if they wanna bring Big Z for size, another forward, and maybe marbury, francis should still make it i would think.

the kobe/tmac battle is nice. kinda amazing that kobe can take all these hits and still bring in the votes.

and how the hell does vince keep getting votes. he doesn't play and he seems to get ragged on all the time for being soft or hurting the team, or being a whiner, or for being injury prone, etc. and somehow he still racks in the votes and maintains popularity. he's the anti-lebron.

True. I still enjoy seeing Yao getting the most votes though. When was the last time a Houston player led all players in votes?

Tmac is leading Kobe, Allen and Nash. lol, even with the terrible start. Welcome to Rockets Tmac, Yao's fans have your back.

I was thinking the same thing. We are still far from the ASG though, maybe things will change a bit later on.

Yao is leading all the way, but I do not think he is playing well. Chinese votes must paly a role in the leading this time, on other hand, Amare is playing so well, why does he get a love from the fans? I thought he is also playing as a center. Hope that Yao can improve his play, otherwise, he does not desserve the honor.

Looks like Yao had long coattails in the previous two seasons.

The reason that Yao is leading the league is votes is because he is in fact a popular athlete, and he has pretty much no competition in his category. Amare is listed as a PF so he's can't take away votes from Yao. And if Ben Wallace wasn't taking away votes from Shaq, he would be the top vote-getter. The thing with these ballots is that you have to fill out something. So when you're choosing between Yao, Brad Miller, and Dampier, it's pretty obvious who the average fan is going to pick.

    Well said.

Brad Miller is not close to Yao. Who listed Amare as a PF? right now he is palying as a center. Anyhow, I do not like Amare, but he is playing well, I thought he may take over Yao's position.

im surprised at how people don't see this logic... for any casual fans anywhere... who are you gonna put on the western conference center position?? scroll down the ballot . . .. .. .

    eh.. Brad Miller, E. Dampier, M. Camby... huh?? if dont want Yao's 18-8, how bout Miller's 15-9, Damp 8-7, Camb 9-9, hell, former starting all-star T. Ratliff 4-5 !!!

*10 or 11 players must be voted ON EVERY BALLOT!!

Yao and Shaq are the only choice to go! for ANY voter!

So far Shaq is not far behind Yao in the same number of ballot but with stronger competition against Ben and Z... so Shaq is probably beating out Shaq this year if they're in the same conference.. well, hard to tell, they were close before too but injury on shaq's part played a role.

Even Amare is listed as C, he won't be able to take vote from Yao. Yao is more likeable to the fans.

I concur. Amare is even behind Melo at the West-Forward position.

I think all CF.net members should vote for Deke.. I wrote in AB a few times.. Yao is gonna start, but we can get Deke to back up, then we'd have 3 all stars.. VOTE DEKE
