Ya know, from what I read somewhere, China is the type of country that looks down on players scoring over 25 points a game. They take it as a sign that the player is trying to out shine his teammates.

But isn't that kinda hard for Yao not to do. He plays hard everytime he steps out there and in my opinion I know Yao is the best center in the league. Some may say D Howard but his offensive game isn't at the stage of Yao's at least not yet.

Well my point is it's good to see that Yao Ming is breaking the mold in China. I mean who else would have the superstar type power that Yao has over there. He needs to be the leader not only for his country but also for the Houston Rockets.

Clutch doesn't change screen names as I recall. I'd just resign up with a new name.

Oh, okay. I appreciate the heads up. But just to keep the fun and give others stuff for fodder, I will leave it as it is then. There are certainly worst names and worst mistakes on this board. At least I didn't name myself the full name of a former player that wasn't even one of our greatest players. (Alter ego issues maybe?)  :D

Yao is far from back in shape. He looked slow on defense and tired from the first 3 minutes into the game. it is kind sad that Yao is the best passer on CNT. Yao was impressive from the high post last night. that's Adelman's basketball.

yeah watching the game, it was good to see Yao play well, but he could have scored 80 points on Angola if the chinese guards would pass to him more.

not really a good test for Yao since Angola is terrible.

Yes it was good to see Yao looking more like his old self again!
However in the upcoming season I would like Yao to have a change of his mind set. I would like him to become more of a focused dominent scorer [the go to man] instead of him being what I call a casual scorer, one who is also concerned about making plays for others. In last nights game he was not the go to man, except when it was needed. :p

WTF? did you guys watch the game? Chen Jianghua only played like 8 minutes. He's the best PG that China has. Liu Wei (#5) SUCKS. If you watch the game, every time he handles the ball he has to stop right after getting past the middle. He has to pass it out, and if he DOES try to go inside (which he did 3 times all game) he turns it over. What kind of a point guard is that if you can't even bring up the ball. There is not a point guard in world competition that has to stop immediately after getting past the middle line. That is pathetic!

Chen Jianghua came in, great fast break pass to Yi for a dunk. Then drives in twice for free throws. Liu Wei doesn't even know what the paint looks like. His one trick is that he can pass to Yao. Can't bring up the ball, slow on defense, streaky shooter.

he's going into his what? 8th season? you don't have a sudden change of mindset that great going into your 8th season. if it had happened, it would have happened when JVG took over when he flat out said i want yao to be the best scoring big man in the game.

so if China beat Germany next, is that mean they will advance? and if they lost to Germany, they are over?

Well, a 6,9 center isn't exactly short nowadays, but the Angola players aren't exactly giants.

    1. some people never saw the game
    2. some people only care about stats (see all those people who talked crap to me about Juwan Howard's scoring average)

I am quite positive that a D-League team could beat Angola.

I'm just happy Yao didn't get hurt and that he got in a good practice against some scrubs. I think the Germany game will be competitive and Yao vs Kaman should be fun to watch.
