When Yao comes back, they gotta get him some special shoes to protect the toe, we can't afford to let someone step on it again!!!!!!!!!!!!111
The problem is that since most of us can't read Chinese, we can't tell if the Sina articles that get posted are news items (which are often legit because they put such an emphasis on reporting on Yao) or opinion pieces with rumor-mongering, attention getting "reporting" (like the Chinese equivalent of Peter Vescey or Sam Smith). Definitely got to look at the context of the news and key on direct quotes from Yao.
I agree, the language thing does confuse readers a bit. My point is that this is not the first time we have collectively jumped on Sina for supposedly 'reporting' news that haven't made it to our local media yet, questioning the source and their legitimacy; we have been wrong in the past as well. I think Sina does get some exclusives with Yao and does have unusual access to his thoughts/life/condition that other media sources don't. It seems like Yao just opens up and shares more with the Chinese reporters than with anyone else, and IMO having access to a source like Sina through Chinese posters on this site is a great luxury to have, because we usually get to hear about things that no one outside of this community has access to. My point is: it's ok to be skeptical, but I think until proven false/unreliable/full of sh**, I will be more willing to give Sina the benefit of the doubt from now on...
it could just be a file photo.....i can't read chinese but does the caption say Yao lifting weights after the surgery? let's go easy on the poster guys. just excited to have Yao back soon..ESPN said the same thing
