1st post of the thread ...
Now read your own posts and see who was all over the map ...
Who drooled all over Camby stats of block shots and rebound ? ... Who brought up ... rebounds, blocks, assists, steals, turnovers, fouls to show Yao's deficiency ?... (and then turned around and dismissed the efficiency stat)

Who brought up Curry, Taylor, Duncan, Diaw .... with these inconsequential little tales to belittle Yao's accomplishment?

The argument of the thread is that being the only center which has impact on both ends of the court, Yao deserves to be a starting center at the All Star game this year.

If you think Camby is more deserving than you simply lack the knowledge of this game .... If you want to kiss Duncan's azz, that's fine. What does he have to do with Yao being the starting center at the all star game?

LOL... truly priceless. It's called "making points" in a conversation. All of my posts have been on topic and in the flow of the conversation, and I responded to xcomputerman saying that Yao was outperforming Duncan. You defended the Duncan claim. Any of this ringing any bells for you?

Clutch: Yao is not on Duncan's level.
ragingFire: You're biased! They are too on the same level.
Clutch: No he's not and here's why.
ragingFire: In that case, Yao is on another level than Boris Diaw! HA!
    Clutch: Congratulations. You lose.

In the Book of Efficiency, Chapter 2 verse 9, we read that both Marcus Camby and Tim Duncan are ahead of Yao Ming. For the life of me I can't figure out why you keep bringing up efficiency or accusing me of dismissing it. I've slapped it back in your face each and every time. I can't find a single solid point you have made by bringing it in to the equation.

Also, for future reference, me bringing up Eddy Curry and Mo Taylor was not meant to belittle Yao ... it was a response to a user questioning that blocks and rebounds were critical/important to the center position. I stated clearly that Yao was not totally deficient in those areas, ala Curry/Taylor, but that he couldn't afford to slip any. Anyone with a good grip on English comprehension could see that.

That's the problem -- I think your grip there is soft at best because what I'm saying and what you're reading are two different things. In your world, calling someone on the statement that Yao is better than Tim Duncan is Duncan ass-kissing. Pointing out that Camby is outperforming Yao in blocks and rebounds (a statistical fact) is drooling over Camby and saying Yao doesn't deserve to start the All-Star game. In fact, anything short of saying that Yao Ming is the best player in the NBA and is the byproduct of a Bruce Lee-Wilt Chamberlain-Pete Newell spermshake is akin to Stephen A. Smith Yao bashing.

In the future, you might want to consider being a little less sensitive and accusatory... this is a Rockets site - not YaoMingMyopia.com. Being the slightest bit critical of Yao does not necessarily mean you hate Yao, think he is a bad player and wish him failure in the future. It also doesn't necessarily mean that you're biased against Yao. In fact, I just have to shake my head in amazement that any YOF clown cheerleader would have the balls to call anyone else biased in their basketball analysis.

The new rules certainly don't help... but I'm not going to blame it totally on that. I certainly wouldn't see these new rules slowing down Hakeem, David, Ewing, Kareem or Shaq in their hey-day. Hell, Seattle used to play even worse illegal defense than what is allowed today, but it merely kept Hakeem in the 25ppg range, instead of the 28-30ppg he would have torched their weak centers with.

If anything, if you have a dominant center in this day and age, you HAVE to have guys who can hit open shots when they double the front down low. The NBA still has a shooting problem... and the new rules are trying to soften that by rewarding marginal athletic players by not allowing any contact to take place.

Yao is definitely a 24ppg player if he gets to play his back to the basket all game (with his defender not fronting)... but that's still not GREAT, and not near the level of the once dominant big-man. (but, he still has time to get there).

Steve A Smith is a F*#king r****d, bottom line. He is one of the biggest racist. Have you ever seem his show? He's always got black players on his show, and never a person of other skin color!

The All star game is in Houston, do you really think that T-mac or Yao will not make the squad? It's who's more popular? Does Duncan deserve to be a starter over Brand? Brand's got way better stats than all the PFs all there! Yao is the only true center in the west....not Camby or Gaso or anyone playing out of their spot!

One more thing, the reserves were picked...and where's camby, or any other centers from the west? so it's obvious that they're not worth it!

Your rants are all on topic and in the flow of conversation ...
When others diagree, they are too sensitive , accusatory , and YOF clown cheerleader ...

Why on earth did you bring up the superior defense skill of Camby in a thread about "Yao avg 20pts and deserving to be All star"? Is that a rant or is it to the point? What about Curry and MoT, for Christ's sake! Then you mentioned a relative unknown Diaw instead of Big Z and Dalembert to belittle Yao's efficiency rating ... is that not bias ?
That is a complete fabrication ... I never said that ... You are the one who brought up Diaw ... yet you never did prove anything ...
    This is what I said
Did I ever hear you mention Shaq in this whole thread? Based on those numbers, if Yao is not on Duncan's level, where does that put Shaq? Should he be on the All Star team ? (I bet you are going to argue that Shaq has been the number one center for the last 100 yrs now ... I know you would just like you used the wonderful stats that Duncan has had over the years too ...) The argument is made for this year's stats because we are talking about this year All Star game.

I said it before and again, you can always find faults with Yao's game if you compare him to the top dogs at the moment ... But if that is "all" people see, I would call that bias. In your superior understanding of the English language, what do you call it?

Never in my life could I imaging Clutch gets involved in a heated argument with another poster here in a mud-wrestling style. I seems to me he's always above the fray, kinda like George Washington was during his tenure as the first ever President of the United States. Although he was a Federalist, he never got personally involved in the fights between the Federalists and the Republicans...

OK, why did I bring history into this? Oh well, this is all for fun.

I think Yao is better than Boris Diaw.

Yao/Stoudemire/Marion would make one amazing frontcourt and I think Phoenix would pull the trigger on a Diaw/Yao swap in a heartbeat. Personally I don't think the Rox would make such a trade.

Here is every point I've made in this thread:

Camby has been injured as much as Yao this season (so writers can't say Camby is more deserving than Yao based on injuries).

Yao deserves to be on the All Star team -- writers who say he doesn't are clueless.

Camby, in less minutes, is dwarfing Yao in rebounds and blocks.

Yao is at a career-low in blocks.

Blocks and rebounds are very important for a center.

Yao is a very good player with special skills, but he's not on Tim Duncan's level.

The difference between Yao and Duncan on the great efficiency chart in the sky is virtually the same as the difference between Yao and Boris Diaw.

Yao's rebounds and scoring are up because his minutes are up.

Yao's improvement lies in his stamina, fouls and free throw shooting accuracy.

Yao shot 40% and the team was 0-8 in games this season when T-Mac was out and Yao was playing.

Of this list, only #2, #5 and #6 are presented above as opinions. #2 is pro-Yao, so ragingFire had nothing to say. I backed #5 up with examples of why those stats are important, but mentioning Eddy Curry and Mo Taylor as extreme examples of why they're important was somehow "belittling Yao" in ragingFire's book. Backing up #6 with overwhelming stats was "Duncan ass-kissing".

The rest are statistical facts, they simply can't be refuted. That hasn't stopped out-ragingFire's flames, particularly directed at #3 and #7. So the only way to attempt to dismiss these numbers is simple: Accuse the messenger of being biased. Since it makes little sense for the guy who came to the Rocket fan site 2 years ago to accuse the guy who built the Rocket fan site 10 years ago to have a bias against Rocket players, he's actually suggesting racism, which is completely absurd.

Yes, without a doubt, this is an illogical, irrational, sensitive, reactionary YOF cheerleader clown.

Yao Ming deserves to be a starter in the 2006 All Star Game because he is the most popular and liked basketball player both in Asia and the USA, the result of which he received the most votes of any NBA Basketball Player and was voted onto the team as the number one choice of the populus. This is the simple truth and there is no argument against it.
The starting Five for both teams are not judged by statistics, but by popular vote and each one is there because of this fact.
Our own likes and dislikes make no difference to this fact, Camby this and Camby that has no bearing on the selection of the starters.

Clutch, let's not perpetuate the term "YOF", at least not from you. It is the worst term ever invented on your BBS.

You still don't understand anything , do you?
Let me spell it out ... again ...
    1) (Most of) your statistics are correct.
    2) Most are bad statistics against Yao.
    3) You overlooked (most) everything positive about Yao, either stats or tangible things.
    4) People who do the above are bias in my book.
Your logic is bad if you want to win out this argument based on the fact that you built this site 10 yrs ago. I assume you meant because you've been a Rockets fan longer, you can say anything and be right ... ?

I got news for you ... I am pretty sure only a few fans on this site have followed the Rockets as long as I have ... You are not one of them ... You didn't happen to watch the Rockets played their games in Hofheinz Pavillion, did you?
