Count me in as another guy who is sick and tired of reading all of these Francis vs Yao talks.

Why cant we desire for both of them to succeed? Why tear down one of the major players on the team?

I mean, as long as the team wins, who cares who the man of the team is. I certainly dont and I am pretty much guessing that the players dont really care that much either as long as they are contributing to the effort...

There are two ways to rip on a player. Either you do it yourself or you make other people do it.

Honestly I can't really tell whether you are a Yao-lover or actually a Yao-hater. It seems to me you are trying to say something stupid to agitate the other posters so that they have to rip on Yao to prove you wrong.

Please stop yourself before it's too late. You are not making any sense! You are a huge Yao fan and that's fine, but please take off the "red dot" glasses because you views are blurry. Steve is the leader of this squad will continue to be until Yao is ready........READY! Yao has yet to prove he is ready to lead this team and carry the load on a night in and out basic. He show flashes of brilliance, but he needs time to be great. Steve.... 21ppg 6 and 6, that's carrying the load.

But Yao was just a rookie. And Yao was tired. :)

The only thing that counts is if Steve and Yao win on the court together. They are the 2 best players on the team and their play will determine our success.

I hope they develop good chemistry together. Dishing Steve or Yao doesn't get us a ring.

One good thing about the coaching change is if something needs to be addressed between these 2 Jeff Van Gundy can confront it regardless of what might have transpired last season.

I believe JVG will demand buy in from Steve and Yao for the team to be successful. So I am hoping for some great on the court chemistry in this team. I believe JVG will expect nothing less.

It's not about Francis VS Yao, this is ALL about making STEVE aware that he nees to do things right (share the ball, no more stupid turn-overs) in order for the rockets to succeed.

Its all about developing Team Chemistry. JVG wants team play and will demand sacrifice from all. Yao Ming has proven that he can be a team player, now its upto Steve Francis to show that he isnt afraid to be known as a great playmaker rather than a great scorer.[If he is playing the Point Guard Position] Both Francis and Mobley need to show sacrifice and respect to all the others on the team. Both Yao Ming and Steve Francis will be great players for their Team if they do what JVG needs them to do. The Francis mind set must move from I am a great scorer to I am a great Point Guard and I make all my team-mates better.

Out of an 82 game season, you come up with 4 boxscores? Pick any player in the league and I will show you 4 nights where they werent "on". Also, by showing these boxscores, you did nothing to prove that Yao was more consistent that Stevie. Horrible evidence, horrible logic, horrible thread, etc...

I am trying to think of how many times I ever heard of any debate about whether it was Magic or Jabbar who was 'The Man' on the Lake Show.. hmm.. lessee... oh, NEVER.

It's simply stupid to even dwell on such concepts.

Until such time as a man plays alone, one-on-five, and WINS, then this will remain a TEAM game.

In fact, does it even matter who 'the man' is on this team?

All I care about is the w's. Moochie can be 'the man' for all I care, as long as this team plays together, commits to winning, and once again feeds our hunger for vicarious glory by becoming champions.

Here's hoping JVG feels the same way, and can help any players who DON'T feel that way find the exit sign, post haste.

    Yes, Yetti,

JVG's job is to help make the team successful. I am guessing where you and I might differ is that I dont have some roles that I feel that the players need to fill. It does not matter to me if it is Steve or Cuttino that has to make the major adjustments or if it is Yao or if it is Eddie, or whoever. All I care about are the wins.

I in fact do not have problems with people discussing areas where any player needs improvement on. All I am saying is that I am tired of such things as in this thread where one states some positive observations about Yao (or who-ever) and then goes on to rip someone else - in this case Steve and saying such things as how he has no heart and bringing in 4 instances out of 82 where Steve had a poor game.

That is all I am gonna say on this thread.

If JVG is successful he will be insisting on Team Chemistry. Team Chemistry is badly needed on the Rockets. It was evident that the only two that have had Team Chemistry during the last couple of seasons have been Francis and Mobley.
JVG will get sacrifice from his players or they will be out of the door and on another Team. You cant have Steve Francis making statements like he is a shooter and that he is going to take his shots and that he isnt going to defere to anyone.
As a playmaker, Francis will be defering to anyone he passes the ball to. And he will have to pass the ball in JVG's Game. A Basketball Team is run by a playmaker. If Francis wants to be a scorer then he should play the Two Guard and lets get a Point Guard that is willing to play the Team Game.

So meaningless a thread. Why do you all think there is a battle between Steve and yao on the court? Never happened. They all are in a entire team. Steve is a genius scorer and yao is a tough defender and rebound grabber. They are the two key parts of our rocket. Missing anyone of them, we will be beated heavily on the court.
We already wasted too much time on this stupid topic. Stop it!

this isn't about Yao bashing, Yao is the only rocket that isn't bashed. it is about defending Steve. Steve and Yao are both great players. but alot of people keep bashing Steve.

yes, please lets stop this comparisons thing. I like each and every player on the team, simply because they are a TEAM and it's a TEAM game and they play to win as a TEAM. CRAP..if people keep bringing these dumass topics up, we're sure to have a lot of people hating on this or that player. I am a Yao fan, but that doesn't mean I have to think biased. I'd be happy to see any player on the rockets team have a big night and get a W.
