You guys need to keep in mind yao still only averages 32 minutes a game, which is way too low for a player of his caliber. If he was able to average 38-40 minutes per game then we would be seeing a 20/10 player this season. It seems that his achilles heal is his endurance, its hard to believe that yao will improve his conditioning as he gets older, but its possible.
When I saw the thread title, the first hump I thought of was his conditioning, and if he was going to get his second wind and crank it up for the stretch run. I think the jury is still out on that, but you may have a point about his offense, JR. He may have turned a corner on feeling comfortable with his role... putting the ball in the basket promiscuously. I hope so. Haven't we all been waiting for him to bust loose on a regular basis and score 25 night in and night out? Maybe now's his time.
Only time you can say Yao is "over the hump" is when he can consistently deal with double team by PHSICAL centers and PF. I don't thnik it will happen till next season.
bump. JR is prophet. the last three games clearly showed that yao is playing at a different level now.
