I think they are both to blame...the whole team flat out has no chemistry and no identity.

We have a center who can't stay on his feet and hold his position, and a PG who can't pass.

We lost the Indi Game because the perimeter shots didn't go in. If some of the wide open shots went in, we would have won the game.

    I think you're basically right.

One thing that's been getting on my nerves lately is we play small ball ALL GAME.

    Steve - Cat - JJ ... that's 3 guards. I'm sorry, but it's 3 guards.

At one point during last night's (Indy) game, we had Mooch - JJ - Piatkowski. That's STILL 3 guards.

We play small ball ALL GAME. I remember Phoenix a few years back. It didn't consistently work for them and it won't consistently work for us.

Thank you for your honesty. Now what can we get for trading you?;)

Seriously though, this is a good thread, except for the mindless have to bash Yao to support Steve or vice versa.

If you are getting away from the Guard Oriented Team and intend to develop the Big Man Game then you must have someone that can pass in correctly to Yao Ming. Crisp Passes, quick passes at the right moment he is open and calling, no telegraphing what you are about to do [thats what is happening at the moment]. The only Player on the Team that knows how to is Nachbar. The Guards cant or won't do it. Our present Gaurds or Yao Ming should be on another Team. Its about time to call a Spade a Spade! JVG is dreaming if he thinks he can build this Street Ball Team into a Chamionship NBA Basketball Team, without major changes.

If Yao Ming is as good as his promoters say he is, then catching the ball 8 ft away from the basket should be good enough. I see no problems with the way Yao gets the ball, its a ridiculous complaint of the guards and its weak considering some of you same people were saying he is going to change the game.

Everyone who has every played with Hakeem weren't the best post passers but he still got his points because he could CREATE FOR HIMSELF. That's the mark of a Franchise player, not someone who needs everything just right for him to succeed.

Robert Horry was one of the best post entry passers to play in the NBA the last 10 years. That's why he still playing on teams with dominant big men. Reducing the significance of passing and how to pass is one reason why the team isn't growing.

Horry has had some great receivers of those passes in Hakeem, Shaq, and Duncan.

Even Robert Horry isn't a perfect passer. He sometimes would throw a lazy pass. But Hakeem was a good enough receiver that he would aggresively chase after the ball and snatch it up before the defense could steal it away.

When was the last time Yao was able to do that?

More often than not, if a pass is not exactly perfect, Yao's not going to be able to get the ball. There is absolutely no margin of error when passing the ball to Yao.

I think the guards need to practice with Yao a lot more. I don't know what they are doing in practice because they look like garbage on the offensive end.

Why put all the blame on the guards? Why not say Yao needs to do a better job of getting position so that every pass sent to him is not such a risky pass?

Mo Taylor never seems to have problem getting the ball from the guards because he actually is able to get position and make it easy for someone to pass to him.

did u see last nights game? Yao had position numerous times but didnt get the ball. Instead steve seems to dribble away and cause turnovers.
