Let me apologize immediately for this - I did not mean to be prejudice in any way whatsoever and did not even know that people were offended by it.

    Again, I sincerely apologize.

I hope you didn't think my post was condescending, droxford. That is why I showed you the merriam-webster dictionary.:)

I felt that you didn't know that was the case, like many other people out there.

    Not condescending at all. Thanks!

To prevent the de-railing of this thread, I have added a new thread about this in D&D.

I think if Yao doesn't get voted in by the fans, the coach would be stupid NOT to pick Yao as a backup on the team.

Sorry, but aside from Yao being the 2nd best C in the league, I imagine the NBA brass wouldn't look kindly on losing a few $$$ on account of some coach likes Brad Miller's game.

P.S. When Chris Webber comes back in about a month, Brad Miller's stats go bye-bye.

Yao is the second best center in the west no matter what Miller is doing. Frankly, I hope Shaq starts. That guy is playing like a man posessed this year. I love Yao, but I want him to get there on merit, not just on popularity.

there is nothing to argue about here, all 3 will make it

Yao will get in by the fans

Shaq will get selected anyway due to his performance

and B Miller will make it too based on performance

i still cant believe that everyone was saying that this year the kings would subside and they lost there chance at winning a title.

just last year they were saying vlade divac could be an allstar center now he is going to come off the bench. and webber hasnt played yet.

i dont really see the lakers loosing. but if my wish is granted then the kings will kill them in a great series. i cant wait until the playoffs.

    down with the lakers

Ok so Miller has better statistics. Now match him up with Yao ONE on ONE....who's better now?? C'mon!! Yao is going to shut him down completely....and offensively, he can't be stopped. Now, do you still think Miller is better over Yao ??? It's a no brainer to me who's the better player. Reason Miller has better stats is cuz he plays in a team with different style and surrounded by good players.

Any of you honestly want Yao at the AS game? I'd rather he gets 3 day's rest.

the ballots for the all star votes are kind of weird, because ben wallace is listed as a center, but hes a foward, but that's not the point, yao ming will be at the all star game because of the people that it will atract from all over the world, and the people here who want to see shaq and yao on the same team, so it's a no brainer, yao has to be at the all star game, doesn't matter if he is not an all star yet, there's a lot of potential(money) with him at the all star game.

OFFENSIVE?!?!? Really?!?!? wow! I didn't mean it that way! I thought saying 'chinamen' was like saying 'Americans'!?!?!?

Are any of you Chinese BBS members offended by the word 'chinamen' ?

    -- droxford

Dang Droxford, you are a racist and don't even know it.

I'll take it a step further, since the 'chinaMEN' wording is discriminatory to women. How dare you.

Some of you need to relax.

I'm telling you, Eric Dampier deserves a spot too. And he is a true center. Let's see, the most double double, and best rebounder so far. If he keeps that going it'll be a shame if he can't make it.

Suddenly the West is swarmed with quality centers: Shaq, Yao, Miller, Dampier. While at most there can be three centers in the West team, due to the number of quality forwards here, we are only going to see two centers. Since Yao is going to be in by internet ballot, Shaq is going to be picked by the coaches. Sorry, Brad and Erick. Such is the life in the Bestern Conference...

That is exactly what I am thinking!

I wish Yao doesn't make this year's all-star game, so he can have extra days' rest and make him play better in the second half of the season.

But it's not a matter of wanting Yao to make the A.S. team or not - he's going to be voted in. Now, if he could come up some excuse for not going i.e. "I didn't really deserve it last year", I'd be all for it.
