Yao will play tomorrow. Here he is putting on a small brace that he will probably wear tomorrow night. He needed no xray, no MRI...docs checked him out and he is fine, just a little sore.

PS...Rice will have an MRI. Taylor is day to day and will might miss another game or two.

This scary thought came to my mind when I saw that picture. What may happen if that small chair gives way to his weight and collapses. No one wants an injury of Ming coz of that...:D

This thread is just depressing. Yao got his knee bumped, it hurt, the Rockets call it a sprain. Do you expect them to say "We're playing the Nuggets at home, Yao's knee got a stinger and we really took the opportunity to sit him. Since he's a tough guy, we're not going to disrespect him and therefore we're calling it a sprain?". In future years (hopefully) when Yao does get injured (as all players do) I hope this board doesn't turn into a "wailing wall". The Rockets won, Yao sat. They're happy.

    Yao's knee injury not serious

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Associated Press

HOUSTON -- Yao Ming's knee injury is not serious, and he was in a good enough mood Sunday to joke about his fledgling acting career.

Yao left Houston's game against Denver on Saturday night late in the first quarter with a mild ligament sprain on the outside of his left knee. He said he will play Monday night against Boston, and will wear a brace to protect the knee.

"It's a little sore,'' the 7-foot-6 center said.

The injury threw a brief scare into the Rockets as they opened a four-game homestand that concludes Friday night with the first meeting between Yao and Shaquille O'Neal.

"The day is finally coming,'' Yao said.

O'Neal was injured and did not play when Yao shot 9-for-9 and scored 20 points in a victory over the Lakers in Los Angeles on Nov. 17.

Yao was asked about the growing popularity of his new commercial for Apple Computers, which also stars Verne Troyer, the actor who plays Mini-Me in the "Austin Powers'' movies.

Yao also was spotted in New York on Thursday, where he was filming another commercial.

Any chance that Yao will have an acting career after he's finished playing basketball?

"I don't think they can find a stunt double for me,'' he quipped.

The 22-year-old rookie has exhibited a lively sense of humor during his first three months in the NBA, often answering questions with one-liners. He couldn't resist an opportunity to ham it up Sunday when he spotted a trio of television cameramen, grimacing and limping in mock pain as he walked out of the weight room before breaking into a smile.

Asked Saturday how surprised he was to be leading O'Neal in All-Star balloting, he gave an answer that confounded his translator, Colin Pine, to such a degree that Pine sought out an explanation later.

"My eyes seem to be bigger than my mouth, and my mouth seems to be bigger than a bicycle tire,'' Yao said.

Pine explained that Yao was referring to the wide-eyed, open-mouthed look a person makes upon hearing astonishing news.

Yao was off to a good start against the Nuggets, collecting six points and six rebounds before leaving the game. He injured his knee early in the quarter while fighting for position with Nuggets rookie Nene Hilario.

"I remember when I was in the low post, Nene Hilario went for position. It's lucky I haven't broken it,'' Yao said in English, a language with which he is steadily becoming more comfortable.

Sunday was supposed to be an off day for the Rockets, but coach Rudy Tomjanovich changed his mind and told the team to report to the gym. He wasn't pleased that Houston played poorly down the stretch and missed eight of 22 free throws.

Yao met with the team doctor, and the Rockets officially listed him as probable. Forward Maurice Taylor (sore Achilles' tendon) also is probable, while Glen Rice's status won't be determined until he has tests on his strained left shoulder.

    "I can play,'' Yao said.

Nice to hear something from Yao himself though I thought the doc's opinion should be valued more :)
Translation. Hopefully nobody did this already:

Yao was injured! All the chinese fans were astounded to hear this bad news. Though it turned out to be fine. After the game he just got home, grabbed something to eat, went online for a while then went to bed with tomorrow's practise waiting ahead. Nothing would be different.

During yeasterday's game against Nuggets , with 4 mins 20 secs into the first Q, when Yao and Nuggets' Center Nene Hilario fought for the position, Nene bumped into Yao's left knee and Yao got a call. 7 mins later with 1 min remaining in 1st Q, Yao was substituted by Cato. From then on he was not allowed to get back to the court and play.

Later the official Rox annoucement said no X-ray was necessary. However, nobody outside seemed to know how the real situation would be. Until Yao himself called me, uopn which I immediately knew he is fine.

"I'm done. I'm really done this time."he shouted. "Wow, then you can come back to China. Forget about 18 million dollars for 4 years. You can still work as my driver, and I wll pay you 1800 for 4 years." He laughed. "Actually it's no big deal. I said I could still play, and so said the doc. But Rudy said 'no way'. You know the way things work here. You can't overlook any single tiny injury. I will go practising tomorrow. We still have Celtics to fight."

This game left Rox with a injury-loaded crew. MoT didn't even dress. On this Yao teased Eddie Griffin before the game, "Hey, dude, then you have to play 48 mins in the full length". And it turned out he himself couldn't finish even the first Q.

After getting off court, Rudy sent Yao to the locker room to get away from media. And it seemed in no time a injured Rice and Norris followed him into locker room. The three of them grimfaced to one another, "we are out of help now," Yao said, "I guess after a few minutes Rudy's got to dress and play himself." Thanks to Franchise who grabbed 25 points, and former Nugget Posey who got 18 points, Rox won this game.

During the last 5 days Rox played 4 games the last two of which Yao didn't get double-double. He seemed sorry for this, "what a shame, it seemed a real good day. I so wanted to get back to court to play, just for a double-double something." But there is still bright side of a non-double-double life: his Benz finally shipped to Houston and he also planned to buy a boat, so he can sailing the lake in front of his house.

I always laugh out loud with Yao's joke. He seems to be full of humor.

i mean we can talk about a bright side about yao ,no "political-like" affairs such as the chinese sports management and policy.
so take it easy!it's just a injury that would happen to every other player ,certainly including yao .
