I'm now convinced bad things happen when we play sub .500 teams. Either we lose the game or we lose key players.
yao's two months in US,let's recall : http://www.zjonline.com.cn/gb/node2...853/node119855/node129995/images/00060151.jpg http://www.zjonline.com.cn/gb/node2...853/node119855/node129995/images/00060156.jpg http://www.zjonline.com.cn/gb/node2...853/node119855/node129995/images/00060194.jpg http://www.zjonline.com.cn/gb/node2...853/node119855/node129995/images/00060323.jpg http://www.zjonline.com.cn/gb/node2...853/node119855/node129995/images/00060325.jpg http://www.zjonline.com.cn/gb/node2...853/node119855/node129995/images/00062273.jpg http://www.zjonline.com.cn/gb/node2...853/node119855/node129995/images/00060190.jpg
Sun, You said: Well, check the Chinese table-tennis players, gymnastists, swimmers, basketball players, volleyball players. Do you see anyone of them play at the peak of their career when they are 30 years old? Majority of them retire or play at a subpar level when they are 30. Check their world-class divers, many of them retired when they are around 22 and then went to colleges. Well, here is my answer to your claim: Lots of chinese table-tennis and divers are still good in their late 20s, but they CANNOT compete with youngsters. There are so many YOUNG world class divers and table tennis players in China that it's impossible for those old ones not to retire actually near their peak. They would have been still competing if in other countries though. Gymnastists are more unique. Name me one or two super star female gymnastists who were still dominating the world in the mid 20s. None. The women gymnastists usually reach their peak around 16-19, that's just human nature. The men usually also have to retire around 24-25. The other thing you might want to consider is that when Chinese athletes reaches their peak, they usually begin to consider their future. Lots of them quit not because they cannot play several more years, they want to get in business, school at relatively early age to make it sure that they have a stable future. The problem comes more from system, IMHO.
Didn't you guys see this? The injuries weren't considered serious, and Rockets trainer Keith Jones said if Saturday's game was "at the end of the season, (Yao) would have played." It's not serious.
If they x-ray his knee, they may find a floating computer chip homing device, microphone, and recorder that was put there for spy survellience purposes..... J/K
This is an article by a friend and reporter of Yao Ming after a phone conversation with Yao after his injury. http://sports.tom.com/Archive/1019/1042/2003/1/12-51561.html According to the article, Yao's injury is not serious at all. He played 7 more minutes after the injury, and when Rudy took him out for a rest at the end of the 1st quarter, Yao told Rudy about this injury and Rudy did not let Yao in any more. Yao really wanted to go back to the game. Yao also stated that he will practice and play Monday's game.
He probably will get an MRI wich would also show ligament and cartilage damage. If you want to learn more about Dr. Lowe go to http://www.drwaltlowe.com He is the team physician for the Rockets, Comet and the Houston Texas so I feel confident he would know what he is doing.
I think all Rox fans should demand X-Ray, MRI, whatever is necessary. After all, he and Stevie are the ones that bring us the championship. I have every confidence in Dr. Lowe's abilities but one can never be too sure.
There's a difference between having time off to sit back and relax, even film a commercial, and having time off between games where you still have to bang and do activity while practicing between games. He hasn't had enough time off.
Cmon guys, there is no reason for an xray. A radiograph will only show bone destruction or SERIOUS tissue damage to a knee...nothing else. If Yao had either of those he would have a LOT of pain and it would be really tough to put any pressure on it. He's not experiencing any of those symptoms so why expose him to the radiation? An MRI would make more sense as it is specifically designed for tissue detail...don't be so quick to radiate someone because they have a little oowie.
