"He said somebody hit his knee on the outside and it was hurting on the inside. He said it's not that painful, it just feels like it stuck at one point," Rockets trainer Keith Jones said of Yao, who was sent home during the third quarter. "I looked at him on the bench, I didn't think it was a big deal, but I brought him in and had Dr. (Walter Lowe) look at him. "It's a very slight sprained knee. He was doing exercises before he left, squatting down. He wanted to go back in the game. But we held him out -- it was a precautionary thing." Jones said he didn't expect Yao, 22, to miss more playing time, but that the center would be evaluated today, along with forwards Glen Rice and Maurice Taylor, who also were injured. "I tried to take it to the hole and someone grabbed my arm and took me down," said Rice, who had four points, one rebound and one assist in 16 minutes. "We didn't make a big deal about Yao Ming being in or out," he said. "It's about the game, not certain individuals. If you look at it that way, I'd like to have (injured Nuggets) Marcus Camby, Chris Whitney and Chris Andersen."
Will Ming miss his all star game?? According to FBI files of 2000 (http://www.espnstar.com.cn/StaticNews/2000-10-31/News15a2186.htm) He had problems with his knee just in his 20.
damn, u beat me on this! I was going to make one! geeee well, I was going to make him dream about babewatch....but don't have photoshop installed in my laptop!
right now other teams know yao's jumpers pretty well already and just like theo ratliff said the other night, he knew yao will shoot and which way yao will turn, and he was able to alter many of yao's shots, i think yao has nice dribbling skills and he obviously should use this advantage, he has done that several times during the last few games, and he will be terrific if he do that more often
Most Chinese players have short careers because the system has a tendency to milk players as much as possible without putting protective measures (since many coachs do not understand how to do it). I think it is wise for the Rox to send a trainer to China with Yao once he goes back to play for the national team. It might even be a better idea to send someone there to teach the Chinese coachs how to train and protect players.
Just out of curiosity, is this fact or your projection? If it's fact, do you have a source on it so I can check it out? That's a pretty big statement to make with no solid proof.
I know what you mean. I think it would be stupid for the doctors to NOT x-ray him just to calm the media. I say, x-ray him. Why take a chance?
10 lbs are nothing. I guess he landed improperly after jumping and injured his knee due to being pushed around by someone.
Well, check the Chinese table-tennis players, gymnastists, swimmers, basketball players, volleyball players. Do you see anyone of them play at the peak of their career when they are 30 years old? Majority of them retire or play at a subpar level when they are 30. Check their world-class divers, many of them retired when they are around 22 and then went to colleges. Well, of course, many of them won the Olympics gold when they are young as well. It seems that lots of them peak at a relatively young age but then decline quickly.
Usually one month is needed. I sprained my ankle in skating and still felt pain after half a year, no bone fracture, just strained tendon. From the picture posted here, it looks it is a serious injury for Yao, otherwise he himself would not have left the game.
Of course it does not mean it will happen to Yao Ming. With Yao at Rox hand, there is probably more incentives (18mil investment) to protect Yao. But once he goes back to play for the national team, he might not get adequate protection because the knowledge is not there.
$$$$$$ Bling, bling, ka-ching...show me the money! $$$$$$ And also, considering that Yao has one of the best, if not THE BEST, arthroscopic doctors in the NBA working for the Rockets! Bonus!
They just wanted to say no x-ray to the media. Do you really believe the doctors wont take it seriously??
Yes, but that means that they say, "no x-ray" to the media, then behind closed doors, do the x-ray. You are assuming they will do that, then lie about it. What I'm saying is, that they REALLY DON'T DO THE X-RAY, and then the next game he injures his knee more severely.
