Edit: lost in the shuffle of all this is that China is having an awesome Olympics, the mens b-ball and gymnastics teams have disappointed but they were leading the medal count by a wide margin last time I checked and have dominated shooting, diving and done well in weightlifting and judo.

Can't win em all.

China's doing well... except they still choke a lot. I don't know why... maybe other countries choke too and i just don't follow them. but the gymnastics... the falls... that was chokage. and also, the synchronized diving... all they had to do for a gold was to just do a cannonball together... but one guy made an error and they got 0 points for a dive. that's deadly.

 

All Yao was doing was trying to become a vocal leader amongst the players. i dont think he should be treated so harshly. Unfortunately the freedom of speech which we take it for Granted, does not exsist in other Parts of the World. so sad.

it is soo damn obvious to the neutral observer...

 

1) yao is not in big trouble, this isn't the 60s he won't be going through the re-education program or whatever.

2) I'm pretty sure that he can choose to continue playing for the CNT or not, just like Wang did; but if he choose to leave the national team and changes his mind later, chances are, he will not be able to get back in, just like Wang didn't.

3) Most of you approve of what Yao did? As the senior member, the big brother of the team, he should take his frustration out on his younger teammates? Well that's some leadership right there.

4) I think the Chinese officials are made at yao for a good reason, see #3.

5) I hope the younger players that yao was referring to get the message anyhow.

if you are from china lancet you should know that it's not only in sports that the individuality is suppressed. it's part of the chinese culture. at home one needs to listen to his/her parents and do whatever they want him/her to do. and outside of your home the country is number 1 and one should always, always listen to the officials. however, everything is changing, and the individuality is more tolerated than say even 10 years ago.
