Yao should really play two quarters for the entire time. This 6-minute deal is just knocking him off his rhythm. How can any player be consistent when you get hot, now your time is up and headed to the bench

Guys, Yao is a great basketball player and i respect him as a man. I expect Yao to give us a 100% just as i expect the other players on this team to do. At this point i see Yao as a great role player, not a superstar, not a loser, not a weak link or a coward... a great role player. He is not the sole reason why we win and he is not the sole reason why we lose. Rockets will win because as a team we are great. Right now we are clueless on the court but the talent is there... our identity and how we will win in the clutch is not. That's why we are 0-4.

But Portland isn't paying Oden a max salary, and they aren't building the team around Oden.

15pts, 5rebs, 2blks in 22 minutes... He is far from done. His shooting has been a little off(that's to be expected) but per 36 minutes his numbers about the same. Cause of his minute restriction he has been playing more aggressive and his rebounding rate is up and his shot blocking rate is way up. He is getting 2 blocks a game so far in 22 minutes when 2 blocks per game is what he has been averaging in his career.

    He is just getting back.

exactly - especially considering a 7'6 coming back from a major injury and sitting out for over 15 months......... sometimes you just have to shake your head and smile

How long do we make excuses for him before we hold him accountable for his mistakes?

How long was Blake Griffin out?

Yao should be almost all the way back, he has had enough time, and is smart enough to understand the game and be effective.

Ok very true, but still, what do you expect out of the guy? When the rest of the team doesn't show up in the fourth, how is that a consequence of Yao? Over the past two years I've noticed something, when other teams make runs AB is usually the one to stop it. This year it hasn't been that way. Yes, Yao should be good for 20 and 10 even with his limited minutes, but the team as a whole just can't keep it going. They get this glazed look in their eyes when they're down and it bothers me to no end. There seems to be very very little fight in them.

It's hard to be effective when you have an obvious mismatch and your pg refuses to pass you the ball.

This thread contains some of the dumbest posts I've ever read. Yao is RECOVERING people, he needs time, obviously he might be hurting the team more than helping during this process (the rythme of the team might be thrown off). But in the long run he's going to be more valuable than not, its about being patient with him. Some of the fickle fans in here can't wait to win, I hope y'all go support the Jazz, or something along those lines, maybe the Fakers or Craptors :p

Yao is going to be a BEAST by playoff time......if we make it :)

They don't know their roles, is it an inside out team, is it outside in? Who should be the focus for the crucial shots....

That is what is going on here.

If we make it? Are you serious? But shouldn't we make it? Or are we still saying great things will happen in the long run like we said in 2004. Breaking news reports players of Yao Ming's size don't last that long. Lets try to defy those odds! What makes him valuable at this point is the Chinese Market... sad to say it. This sacrifice of continually waiting is not going to workout in the long run. Best case scenerio he is a great role player...

Have you even seen the guy play, he's playing at a relatively high level, he just needs more time to start getting the minutes to get to where he was pre-injury. Yao's missed quite a few games over his career, I think that's going to minimize his rate of decline. His agility does not seem to have gotten any worse, I don't see why he can't get to where he once was.

The West is overly competitive....the team is good enough to make the playoffs, but this hinderance of playing with a time restricted Yao is making it hard on the team, its a matter of when they overcome this, if they take too long, who knows.....

Yao wants to come off the bench and he doesn't want to mess up the chemistry of this team. He's not a leader he's a team player and yeah that's nice bu with this kind of mentality is shouldn't have been put back into the game when Jordan Hill was playing so great. If we want to win we keep the players on the court that will win us the game. Right now Yao is not going win us the game late in the 4th quarter. We had a good TEAM on the court that was rolling late in the game. Yao is putting up good numbers in regards to how much time he is playing but he is not impacting the game for the Rockets to a point that is taking us over the hump. If we play him more that could possibly change but who knows when that will happen. When does Yao has to prove that he is really back... I see him playing and he is not even dunking the ball down the freakin hoop. Defensively he is slower... yes he is coming off a injury but his window is closing he is getting older. Houston fans have to stop accepting sooo much BS from their sports franchises... they keep taking us in circles and circles of BS!

    Learn to spell.

I wasn't defending Yao in my last post. I was defending logic. You should try it sometimes, buddy. Oh, and I only defend Yao against idiotic attacks. I fully realize he's at best a starter in the league at this point in his career.
