I have to speak to stat guys in their language otherwise stat guys don't understand. Now go to bed son!
Yeah but how are we getting Howard? After him who do you want? I agree that we need an athletic big to play with Yao to offset his lack of mobility, but that does not mean Yao is done are sucks. I mean Before Yao got hurt he was schooling Howard. The hardest 3 guys to game plan for in the NBA are Kobe, Lebron, and Yao.
Keep our faith in Yao hope he can bring Houston a Championship but don't think of me when he fails you.
Yesterday I opened a thread w/ similar topic. However that thread was deleted by mod and I was degraded to Rookie. It's just unfair.
is Yao eligiable to play for the Rio Grande Vipers?? serious question.....send him down for him to gain strenght in that foot and get his conditioning back then when he is ready to play 32 mins bring him up
Yao sucked tonight in the 4th quarter. I did nt say Yao sucks as a basketball player. Yao is gifted I love his offensive game and I respect him on defense i understand his limitations. I just know he could have played better tonight in the 4th but a big part of his bad play was how Adelman brought him in at the wrong time imo. Yao is not done either he can still be a role player and give you good numbers but he's not going to be a all time great center... that's what is done.
Oh yeah and if we got Howard we wing the championship. He is dominant on defense and actually understands what Hakeem is saying to him but he has that ability... Yao doesn't defensively but with what Yao has he is good with. I just wish Yao had a more serious/bully type mentality. Howard has been somewhere yao hasn't been to... the NBA Finals. Unfortunately Yao is 7'6 and he gets hurt a lot. It's hard to work around Yao he is the first 7'6 center that is actually good. It's soo much but at the end I can't say Yao will lead a team to a championship. Not in this league... maybe in China.
He wont fail us. He plays as hard as he can. He has given his blood, sweat, and his tears for this team. If he goes down, then we go down with him and I can live with that. Because he has respect for me as a fan, I have respect for him as a player. I started watching the NBA again because of Yao. He would pick up his teammates when they were on the floor. He played with passion. He had respect for his opponents. And he was the first player in a long time that I had seen that really, really, was happy for his teammates when they did well. I am a 32 year old white guy from southern Alabama that has never stepped in the state of Texas. I was a Bulls fan back during the Rockets Championships. But I will always be a Rockets fan because I have watched Yao and his and his ultimate respect for the game. If he doesnt deserve this fan bases respect, then I dont know who does. The END!
Failed logic fails. Speaking to stats guys in their "language" in order to prove your point necessarily leads to your admission that statistics are an adequate method of proving or disproving a thesis.
He is definitely not done. He has improved every game and he should be terrific after the all star game. Relax people.
Ok I can respect that. Yao is a winner in life. The NBA isn't the same... they use Yao more so for money, in the 2004 playoffs he was a target and was cheated. Through all that Yao still fought even through the injuries... i can't do nothing other than respect that.
Do you realize how serious Yao's injury was and how long his rehab to return was? Do you realize there is a reason he is starting out with a cap on his minutes? And if you do realize those things, do you realize how stupid it sounds to claim he's done just four games in? What do you all want us to do with threads like these? Lock them and people claim we don't let negative stuff about Yao/Rockets go. Let them run and idiocy wins.
I totally agree he got screwed in 2004. He gets no respect from the officials. But he has mad skills for someone his size. Right now he looks like Yao from his first 4 years in the league. He is slower reacting in every facet of the game. But I think by Mid November we will start seeing 2008 Yao. That will be huge for the team if he gets back to that. I just think we need some patience. I am more disturbed by the lack of effort and intensity by the other players. They did this last year and Chuck and Lowry always got everyone into the game with there hustle. This year I am seeing guys who dont want to pay the price for winning. Hustle is the very heart of the team and If we dont have that, then we have a bunch of mediocre to better than average players. Thats scary bad.
LOL I'm mad about the Rockets losing but C'Mon MAN a thesis... cut that out! I never wanted to be on the debate team. Truth is my only concern and getting the truth accross is the whole point. The truth is individual stats from individual players alone doesn't give you a clear indication and guarantee that you will win with certain individual players. Leadership, being clutch, having heart... doing things that don't show through stats is just as important when winning big games... especially in playoffs. Just as Ron Artest gave us in 2009 according to the commentators in this video. Good night. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hb9CWnqaASQ?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hb9CWnqaASQ?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
I agree. He is the reason I watch every game from 2 states over. Either get on board or get off and go root for the Heat.
