Jeez talk about being impatient, yes the guy is 29 or 30 years old and he's on the latter end of his career, but he doesn't look like he's done. Yao's always been slow on defense and people have always complained that he doesn't dunk enough for his size, you bring up nothing new. I think you guys need to watch tapes of Yao playing pre-injury, cause it seems like of some of you have forgotten his limitations. Yao is a creature of repetition, he's very robotic, but damn efficient at doing what he does, he needs to get his timing right because that is how he plays. We can and will be successful with Yao, he's done it before, you guys just need to stop looking at the short term.
Second game where we failed to work the ball down low to Yao in the 4th. If Yao is in the game, use him in any sort of capacity on offense!
just trade yao for oden, oden is great too, and so yough or trade hime to Mavs for Haywood something,
Someone mentioned that Yao will be a beast come playoff time. Really?? Let's see...20ft fadeaway jumpers, get rebounds slapped away from him, play volleyball with the basketball, 5 inch vertical, weak layups instead of throwing it down with authority, give the refs a pat in the back when a call doesn't go the Rockets way instead of giving them an earful. Damnnnn, I can't wait to see this BEAST!! It boggles the mind how Yao groupies find ways to defend this "beast". Yall are a stubborn bunch, ain't yall?
You do realize the quality of players that play along these guys dont you? With the exception of Amare those guys have great players playing with them. That makes them look alot better.
wow this thread took off even Clutch got in the mix lol I know Yao is a sensitive subject to all of us here on CF. We all want him to be the best center in the NBA, no question. When I opened this thread it was (i admit) an over-reaction, I know Yao is not 100% and he has only played 3 in games, but if Yao is not 100% why play him. I'm all for sitting Yao until "doctors" give him the ok to play a full basketball game. Yao looks like his conditioning is not there, and also isnt really comfortable on that foot yet. You can tell by the way he runs he still favors that foot. I would rather play Jordan Hill and Brad Miller then Yao RIGHT NOW big man rotations should be like this: Scola/Hayes Miller/Hill Start Miller so the 1st unit is used to playing with a slower Center when Yao gets back, and whatever you dont play Hayes at Center anymore. Yao should just practice and scrimage and come back after the all-star break stronger than what he is showing right now.
Really, you are screaming for a dunce cap right now. Why does it have to be a brotha? How many center are out there right now with all the tools or total package? Beyond that if they are any, how many are readily available. Can't it just be pretty decent and fairly mobile center. How many centers are there in the NBA that we can go out and get tomorrow, that can be athletic and an above average defender, while providing half of the offense that Yao does. While, getting this player without giving up alot of our pieces or major player besides Yao. This board, especially newer users are much too reactionary, especially with Yao. Some of you are silly and impulsive like a child. The guy has been out of the basketball an entire season and was recovering from career-threatening injury and surgery. I thought he has been a solid B to at lowest a C+ in his production. He has been better than I thought he would've been (barely noticeable in a game). If you convert his numbers/production rate from last night into 32 minutes: they come out to 22.87 pts, 7.6 rebs, and 3.0 blks. If you convert his numbers from last night into 28 minutes: they come out to 20 pts, 6.67 rebs, and 2.6 blks.
4 games into the season and he's done huh? You do remember what he's been dealing with the past 1.5years right? It was never likely that he was going to come back from major foot surgery and play like he did in 06-07 in the first 4 games. Damn. I know we've all been patient with this team, but give the guy a chance to regain his game.
thanks god you are not a coach cuz you have a such simplified mind on athletes. everyone knows that Yao needs some games to get back to his "game condition". and 70% of Yao is still much better than JHill and Miller. it's not that simple to let a person not to play games and put it back after 15-month-non-basketball to get 100% out of that person. got it??????
The problem with Yao right now is that he has a very real ceiling being imposed on him. If a player performs at a certain level with limited minutes, they will receive more minutes of play. Yao simply cannot play more, and it severely restricts how the Rockets can play. Yao is the franchise of this team, but he cannot live up to that role anymore. Yao is done.
Lets see how great Amare is without Nash. Duncan is great and so is Garnett. Garnett with Minnesota got to the Western Conf Finals with Cassell, Sprewell and Wally. Dwight has more time then Yao and has been to the finals with who? Courtney Lee was starting.
Hey here is some info. the rockets just suck right now. everybody including yao. and coaching is crap too. that is more the reality than yao being done. The whole team is garbage, so many places to start moving guys.
Love ya DD, but this makes no sense. Blake Griffin and Yao are not built the same way. Yao just reconstructed his entire freaking foot. anyone remember Amare when he first came back from mf surgery? he was completely useless for a good while. It's not like Yao is playing like **** or anything. He's played THREE games, after missing 15 months, and he is putting up GOOD numbers. ffs.
I know it is not a fair comparison, but I firmly believe that the 24 minutes bit is bunk...and it is killing this team. DD
Agree with that. Which is why I think it's best to either extend Yao's minutes now, or sit him out until he is ready to play more than 24 minutes.
