Why the hell would anyone want to go to the armpit of the NBA?

Incidentally, these threads are annoying. Is there a single non-crazy Warrior fan outside of Swopa? They seem to all spew this nonsense.

Even if Yao did leave, it almost certainly wouldn't be to Golden State.

the rockets should be very careful when dealing with Yao Ming. As long as they are truthful and treat YM right then we should have no problem resigning him, but if we do pull a gaffe as someone mentioned earlier YM won't care about the money. YM will leave. Just look at what he did with Nike, they tried to screw him and he signed with Reebok instead, for less money mind you.

Yao Ming's extension will proceed rather easily.

CD: "Yao, we think we're worth the max. How about it?"

Yao: "Gee, you sure you can't pay me more? No? Well, ok."

I mean, if he were a borderline max player... maybe I'd be worried about the Rockets screwing it up. He's not. It's a given that he's going to get the max. Nothing there to screw up ;).

I don't think CD's worth much more than the veteran minimum ;).

As soon as I get a real job, it's donation time... and I shall rejoice in the "edit" feature.

The dozens of golden state fans are being nieve. No way the rockets or T-mac let Yao walk. Maybe Golden State should look into Wang Zhi-Zhi since he is asian too.

GS, no chance. Lakers and Magic may have a little chance to get Yao.

who is this person they call China? Never heard of him.

Yao Ming, does he look like the type of guy who wants screaming asian girls hunting him down wherever he goes? isn't that what it would be like in Golden State? He would be as big as the beatles over there. He could never sit at a solitary dock and try his luck fishing or just to watch the tide go away and reminisce and feel like he was in a place similar to his old stomping grounds in shanghai because there would be excited asian groupies following his every step. He belongs in Houston. Where he can find some peace in a gated community, far away from asian groupies. A place where he can watch ducks waddle across the 17th green, and golfers scream ' you da man!' in the balmy afternoon, far away from asian madwomen. Around twilight, after sipping tea and readin Lu tzu, he can get in his rowboat and gilde across his community lake, in peace and silence, reinvigorating his soul for the next big game, far away from the asain groupies in GS. Houston is Yao's second home. Its where Nature has placed him to accomplish his greates deeds. Houston, here is where he shall fail or succeed.

All these recent Yao-to-GS rumors started, I believe, from an article of a San Jose MercuryNews columnist. I've read the article and it was quite obvious the writer wrote it under a sacarstic tone, to express his displeasure in some of Chris Mullin's summer movements. For some reason, his quote got mis-translated and/or mis-represented by several other media. Suddenly, few Warriors fans (and fans from all over the NBA too) became overly excited and kept spreading the 'rumors'.

If you go to Warriors boards, you'd see most Warriors fans are pretty realistic in this case - All dreamed about it but realized it is more like a pipe-dream.
