Yao has surgery, out "several weeks"

I have had it, they cleaned out the infection (basically took off the toe nail) and then I treated it with Anti Biotics....I limped for a week but could feel the effects for 2....then it was fine.

That was 6 years ago.

Never came back sense, and I play B-ball 2 or 3 times a week....

I read some news from Hoopchina, a guy claim himself just contacted YAO. YAO said he will be out for at least 10 days.


And also said his toe suddenly got worse before portland game and this is the reason he only got 9/5rbs and fouled out

 

Tracy took a team to the playoffs basically all by himself with Orlando... we can still make it .. we won't make it very far..

I seriously don't know what it is with all these injuries tho! Even the "younger" guys are getting hurt now.

 

It's not like he have never seen those before. It's Orlando Magics all over again for T-Mac.

 

Look at the bright side, during Yao's last 3 games he dropped 30,26,22, respectively on the bum toe. So it's not like this injury was to the point where he couldn't run or walk. He probably just experienced pain and discomfort and it finally got to the point where he was sick of it.

Toe has now been cleaned out. Pump him full of antibiotics and hopefully he'll be back in 2-3 weeks. Most likely the surgery will ease any pain or discomfort he was feeling. It didn't appear, at least on the surface, that the toe was holding Yao back during the last couple of games. So hopefully now that he is actually getting this thing treated, he should be able to bounce back relatively quickly.

 

But this is my point. Yao have it taken care of? Every NBA team has very talented medical professionals that should know enough when to recommend when a player should see a specialist.

How in hell could Yao - or T-Mac for that matter - go to a doctor that would tell him to "shut it down" when obviously the team that pays him millions is complacently treating the injury.

This sort of thing happens every year. In some cases teams openly dispute "private" doctor's findings and brand the player lazy or weak (often anonymously through the press: remember Dream?) and have their doctors (the ones teams pay) to dispute the results.

Right now I think the Rox organization may be feeling more desperate than many of us think, but I still don't understand why Yao has been playing on a badly infected toe.

It was just either a wrong decision or lack of competence.

 

Since the training camp or when he was back in China.

There were reports around summer that said a doctor removed one of his toe nail and he removed another himself. After awhile, he said he will not remove it himself again because the one he removed himself just won't heal.

 

That is bearable; several weeks is not.


Maybe the rest will do Yao good.

 

With TMAC there is a way!!! We still have alot of basketball left this season!

 

Totally disagree. I don't care what kind of competitive spirit you have, when you sign a guy for the max over 6 yrs, you watch out for your investment. No way the Rockets would risk putting his future at risk when he hasn't even started earning his max contract yet. I'm sure it was the Rockets staff who made Yao fly home early Sunday

This is very depressing news for me... Yao is my favorite Rocket and this makes me depressed because I wanted to see him.

And without Alston, Mutombo, Barry, and Anderson? And how consistently? We have T-Mac and the toughest part of our schedule behind us but it might be too much for the remaining Rockets to handle. CD needs to start hitting the phones, make some trades like he made last season, hope Yao comes back sooner.

On the bright side, this can land us on the lower half of the playoff bracket, if we make them.
