That's a bunch of bull. We ain't tanking this season. We're shooting for the playoffs. We've got a softer part of our schedule coming up. I think we will survive and when Yao comes back we will thrive. Unless TMac goes down again, we're going to the playoffs this year.
ok i just told my mom about yao's toe infection. right then she was like oh no its osteomyelitis. she said u have to be on antibiotics for 2 - 6 weeks. she said since its a toe..maybe 2 or 3 weeks.
Even when Yao does get back, he won't be 100 percent for a long time. For a guy who struggles with conditioning as it is, this is going to be really tough. Even T-Mac is having a hard time after being out, and he's in great shape. And Yao was just starting to play like a true superstar too...
silver lining.... who knows what we will get thanks to this season. last time we had a season like this, francis missed like 20 games and we got yao. as long as tmac stays healthy we won't be a terrible team. but without yao who knows how far we will go. right now it looks like we are lotto bound but it might be our chance to land the PG we need.
I don't want to say it, but the next few games without Yao, Deke, DA, Rafer, and JB is going to sway me one way or another as to whether or not we should tank the season. Honestly speaking, if we had no good chance of making the playoffs, it would be wise to rest McGrady and Yao to prepare for next season and have them as healthy as can be. Again, things would have to be going real bad for fans to advocate tanking, but it might become a realistic option based on how we play without Yao the next few games. Our only saving grace is if Yao is out no more than two weeks. Six weeks? That's way too much, doesn't sound encouraging and we're unlikely to stay near .500 with such an incredibly depleted lineup (not just Yao).
Sounds like Yao will get a HUGE welcome back party in the form of the All-Star Game--hopefully the 8th seed will still be within possibility . Does anyone remember this much bad luck befalling our ROX in the beginning of a season ? I've never seen anything like it--T-Mac-missing games due to chronic back problems, Yao- out until Feb. due to osteomyelitis surgery, Stromile , DA , and Rafer all turning out to be disappointments, falling to 4-12 and being ranked last in the Western Conference.
Don't even want to think about that happening--who would lead this team ? Head- a rookie ? Stro-hell no! Dikembe-maybe ? Juwan-another hell no! Everyone else is either a scrub or on the injury list.
Damn.... Tmac wasn't kidding when he said this year was going to be a "SPECIAL SEASON." It doesn't matter what seed rockets get, when everyone's healthy again... we'll be such a good team that we'll kill every team put up against us! Don't give up! This is going to be one of those "NBA GREATEST MOMENTS" when the whole team gets injured. Then out of the dark, a light of hope shines. The rockets make a miraculous comeback... and win the FINALS!! Tmac and Yao hug like crazy, Yao cries, the fan goes crazy, and everyone in this forum will try to nominate me as the next Nastradamous the Prophet! GO ROCKETS!
Where are the Yao haters now....!! Funny how people were hating all over Yao when he's playing.... Now that he's out indefinitly, everyone's worried that the rockets are lottery bound.
na..it sure will affect his balance. and the last thing we need is a 7'6 guy without balance in the paint.
we just gotta humble ourselves. tmac said he will be back..and stronger than ever. and look. we all thought swift was the missin piece. look. i honestly though this was the season we were going get out of first round and even beat the spurs to go to finals. but dead last in the western conference..i never even imagined.
Get well soon Yao! You'll be missed. Don't forget to hobble around the gym with your crutches so you maintain your conditioning.
Tank! We can't make the playoffs. Just get a better pick. Don't make the Texan's mistake! Swift sucks. Trade him while he has value.
Osteomyelitis medical info link: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/bone-and-joint-infections/DS00545 ... excerpt: serious stuff... Complications If osteomyelitis is left untreated, it can become a chronic infection or spread to other areas of your body, eventually causing bone death (osteonecrosis). Reduced limb or joint function can result. In extreme cases this may require amputation. Spinal osteomyelitis is especially dangerous because, left untreated, it can damage spinal nerves and even prove fatal. The most common complication of septic arthritis is osteoarthritis. And some individuals, especially older adults, may have a poor long-term response to joint infection treatment. Problems, for example, can include a permanent movement limitation, difficulty walking or shortening of the afflicted limb, due to a reduction in space between bones at the joint.
I had toe surgery last year.. now granted, mine was a little more detailed since there was bone work done, but still--it took me 6 weeks post-surgery to put my foot down again, and then another 3 weeks to walk normally. From there, I slowly started getting back into athletic shape, but it took forever after that much time off for the muscles in the leg to come back and the foot ligaments/tendons to remember how to move. Like I said, Yao's surgery is more of a cleaning out...but my point is, foot injuries can affect you for longer than you think because during the time you're off, your muscles get little use (esp. the calf) aside from electrical stimulation..and your foot doesn't get used much. February wouldn't surprise me at all
Ugh. I guess this is Yao's reward for playing through pain. Had he just had this taken care of originally, it would have been far less time out. This blows.
this team is more likely built around TMAC, so we still can make it 50.00% or close. TMAC needs play smart and DEKE need step up also.
How many weeks is several weeks. Being of a number more than two or three but not many: several miles away. So he will only be out 4 wks? No then they would say months. O F***. Rockets will take 8th, 7th, or 6th seed. I have faith. Thats good.
