Then go down again like Tmac did in Detroit game? We don't need miracle. We need precaution!!! I understand people want to win NOW. But our core is still young and Yao hasn't even started his max-contract time. Don't rush things. Give more minutes to Stromile and others. We just have to be ready to swallow some bad losses and let them learn from mistakes. Tough times is always good times for team character building. I just hope Yao will recover completely this time. The description in previous post really sounds scary.
Oh, man... I'm speechless, and that takes a lot. How the hell did he play on that, how long did he have this condition, and why the **** did it take so long to diagnose??
Some of the risk factors that may increase a person's susceptibility to osteomyelitis include: * Long term skin infections. * Inadequately controlled diabetes. * Poor blood circulation (arteriosclerosis). * Risk factors for poor blood circulation, which include high blood pressure, cigarette smoking, high blood cholesterol and diabetes. * Immune system deficiency. * Prosthetic joints. * The use of intravenous drugs. * Sickle cell anaemia. * Cancer. Take your time Yao.
My take on it is Yao was being all stoic about it -thinking he just lost a toe-nail, and didn't tell anyone about how bad it really felt until it got this bad, or until the trainers noticed there was something irregular about his toe.
Wow- nausea is one of the symptoms, and didn't Yao throw up after a recent game ? (at Golden State ?) Everyone here including me thought it was just fatigue...
yeah i really have no idea how the heck Yao can play 33 minutes, get 19.9 ppg, 9.1rpb with that kind of toe...... i had ingrown toe nail for 2-3 days.....the very very minimum weak version of it.....got rid of it as soon as possible as i went to the doctor to find out what it was....i can tell you those 2-3 days it was really no fun walking at all, i didn't even want to walk. stop calling yao soft...=/
It has been his problem for long time. Remember he missed 2 pre-season games because of his toe problem? I think Yao and the team keep his condition low profile because they are scared opponents would intentionally or unintentionally step on his toe.
If worse come to worse, let's tank this season and get some good picks. With that many injuries going on, it definnitely does not look like our year.
Think about this: Not only was Yao jumping up and down and running up and down the court, he had other guys (who weighed over 200 pounds) jumping on he's feet all night for a few months. Crazy. I hope he comes back feelin' like a million bucks and scorin' like 10 million bucks.
That's what I don't understand. Our trainers see Yao almost everyday and if there were signs of infection he should have been taking antibiotics for quite some time now.
That was what I was thinking. If Tmac cannot hold the fort down while Yao is gone for a month than we might as well let Yao sit out the rest of the season. We can secure a high draft as well as make sure Yao is completely healthy from this toe thing. The last thing Yao needs is for this toe injury to haunt him for the rest of his career.
I think they wanted to wait it out, and hoped it could heal somehow. I remembered to read some Chinese article about an post game interview. In the locker room, Yao put his foot into some container full of some kind of liquid medication, while doing interview. I don't think it's a sudden thing, but rather it reaches a point they don't have any other options but surgery.
What a great idea! Let's tank the season less than 30 games into it for an unknown commodity! Not smart.
What a bad stroke of luck. The Rockets are going to get so far back in the standings, the best they will be able to do is a big rally to get the #8 seed, and a first round exit to the Spurs. I'm afraid that this will be the beginning of the end for Van Gundy's tenure here.
What is it with the Rockets and diseases? Francis had that migraine thing, Juwan goes down for the playoffs with his heart thing, and now we lose Yao to a 2 and 10,000 chance disease that might be a chronic problem just as we start to turn things around.
wasn't he managing a toe injury in the off-season. he's not going to last long if he doesn't take a complete break from the chinese team.
