This is really crappy. The team is finally playing like they should and he's having a career year and now this happens. They need to be cautious though. I imagine his career would be over if they had to amputate the toe.

How the hell was he playing 33 minutes a night and putting up the numbers he put up if his toe was this bad?

I have faith in Yao ...he's gonna sit out two weeks and watch TMAC lead the team. Then he will come back strong and finish the season with 21pts and 11rebs.

and with dekes finger gettin 0wned, theres only one more option STROMILE! this is his time to shine and show the organization that he isnt a mistake. lets look at the bright side of things, maybe Stro will go on a monsterous tear through the nba. averaging 18ppg 12rpg and 5 blocks until yao comes back

In a 96-min game and 20 fouls allowed, everything is possible!!

Just watch, Yao will pull a T-Mac and come back 2 weeks earlier then expected.

    I hope...

Hopefully Stro does shine in Yao's absence. I guess Baxter and Graham will get to play now.

I was so pumped up for this season and originally thought the Rockets would be winning 57 or more. Unfortunately, injuries have really taken a toll on this team. It's so depressing. Losing Sura really hurts, 0-8 without T-Mac, various injuries to the guards, and now Yao. :( I still believe the Rockets can go to the WCF this season but their seed won't be as good now.

    Crap!

Time to pick up another big man. Any decent center in NBDL? How about trading for Dan Gadzuric?

If Yao is out for "several weeks", he probably won't be back till after the all-star break.

    We are screwed.

now don't you guys feel bad for bashing on Yao this year? dude, i've argued before he ain't soft....Shaq missed 50 games because of toe problems...

i hope this kind of stuff won't be career ending...it's healable right? :(

That worried me too, until I re-read the article- Yao has osteomyelitis, but his is not the chronic version. Although, it could be if he doesn't get the rest he needs to totally get rid of the infection. He has to be gone for at least 3 weeks... :(

Edited to add--just saw mattj's post- FEBRUARY !!

February? Jesus H. Christ! I was hoping for a mid-January return. This season has pretty much gone into the toilet.
