I really think you underestimate the skills required to play some of these sports at the highest level. Yao just does not have the mobility, quickness or balance to be a pitcher or volleyball player or quarterback, etc...at least not from what I've seen from him. The skills that he has does make him a great basketball player, where his size and strength can negate the other deficiencies a man of his height has.

The season begins in about 10 weeks. My question is, with Yao playing hurt, is he going to be fully rehabbed and ready to go in time for the season to begin? And is he doing any damage (long-term or otherwise) to his leg by currently playing at 60-70 percent?

I'm seriously worried that it is going to be T-Mac and Artest this season with Yao in a suit; which will ruin the best chance we've had at a championship in a long time.

Finally, how much of an honor and a privilege would it be for Yao Ming to lead a team to a championship in the toughest/greatest basketball league in the world?

It would be an honor, and it would increase China's money (at least according to what the article stated).

It has been stated by many posters here, Yao has been fully healed! The 60%-70% here is refering to yao's conditional not his injury!
Winning is an extreme honor which is not something money can value!

    Please oh please stop posting.

On topic, having Yao play every year ensures that he will never be the dominant player we saw in late 2006 again. I can understand having him play the Olympics hosted by his home country, but every year at FIBA games? China doesn't have a chance to medal, what's the point?
