Yao has become the 3rd or maybe 4th option on this team.

Scola had a couple post up opportunities in this game, but he got nothing out of it. He relies exclusively on his quickness and spins to get around players. If the defender stays wide in their defensive stance, he can be neutralized without a double team and the offense stalls.

While turning the ball over every other time down the court being single guarded by Okur the whole series. Not to mention not being to grab a rebound at the end of game 7.

I will answer the easy question.

The answer is TMac, TMac and TMac

Did I spell his name wrong? maybe it's T-Brick?

Sooner or later Artest will be pissed. He isn't half as nice a person as Yao is.
Yao:"I posted up, you didn't pass me the ball. Alright, I will run out to set a pick for you"
Artest:"Why is this guy getting the green light to shoot bricks? I can shoot much better than him"

Eventually this will become a brick contest between Artest and TMac. Go Rockets lol

The thing with Yao is that when we are running the offense through him, there needs to be so much effort to get him the ball within 10 ft of the basket for him to be effective. This makes the offense very predictable. Unlike Amare and Duncan (though both are PF) with decent handles and steps for a big man, Yao with the ball at 15 out is not that effective even though he has a good shot. Defenders can just close in on him because Yao can not drive past his guy.

Yao must get the ball near the basket and he is deadly when he just need to make one move before takinga shot; however, without the ability to seal off his man and/or explode to the pass, it also makes fronting Yao and defending the Rockets very easy if we intent on getting him the ball. This is why there are stretches after Yao gets going that he doesn't get the ball, because unlike a wing that can get and initiate the offense from anywhere on the court, Yao can be taken out of the game by the defense.

He is clumsy and can't catch the ball outside of his limited area. His hands are also incredibly weak and has fairly slow reflexes (maybe not compared to us - but certainly compared to other NBA bigs). At the very least, hes certainly does not have Chris Webber hands...

Adelman is trying to get the team to play a game where there are no plays!!!
Which of course will not work our with our team- it spells disaster- Yao looks like a pansey playing under this stystem.

Long rebound. Pls stop the bashing. yao was the only one to score over 40% that series and coming from an injury. And no Yao was not single cover by Okur, nobody guard Hayes or any player at the 4th and was helping on Yao.

I realize Chris Webber was a power forward but hes still a damn big man. And as big men go.. hes got the best hands around. ;)

yeah, maybe Rick Adelman saw some reason to use a top3 center in the league as some Dampier or Big Ben.

Or maybe Yao can be taken out by the defense?

Rule of thumb for the coach:

    1. bench TMAC whenever we are leading by 10 or more.
    2. bench Yao whenever he trys two jumpers in a row.
    3. play hustle guys before big name losers.

Playing that way, Rox was one rebound away from beating Utah without Scola, Landry and Artest.

The Spurs weren't fronting Yao, so catching passes is definitely not a problem.

    Overstatement.

Who else on the team isn't when you lose?

FYI, he's the most efficient scorer among our called Big Three. Guess who's the top rebounder on the team? Who's the only one able to protect the paint all these years?

I'm all for getting Scola more involved in the offense. But Yao needs more touches than 9! The Big three all need the ball to be effective. Coach needs to figure it out.

Yao can be taken out by any defense without getting the ball.
