Yao needs to go up and dunk the ball instead of laying it up softly. But no one on the team could make layups last night. You knew it was gonna be one of those games after Chuck blew a wide open layup on the Rockets' first possession.

I'll be more then content if yao were to AVGE 32 AND 14 AND 6 TO's A GAME FROM HERE ON. in my Opinion, it is truly sign of a great player when he can putup 32 and 14 while not being at he's best. the amount of potential this guy has is mind boggling. a top 5 center of alltime in the making.

There was that stretch in the 4th qtr. last night when he was completely dominant and you'd think that people here would be saying that Yao looks closer to his pre-injury self.

If Yao can't get respect here, he'll never get it from the refs.

I dont think he's there yet, but certianly not as bad as some here making him out to be. most of the Turnovers were as a result of the pacers and there quick hands. the pacers are not a bad defensive you know. couple of years ago those guys were title contenders with pretty much the same core except Artest and Jackson.

BTW, i am more then Satisfied with Yao's Recovery thus far. he is far farther along then i ever anticipated. by the playoffs he'll be in peake condition. to yao's credit, he never stops taking care of he's body.

Yao has a dislocated finger, you can't really expect to dunk and risk reinjuring himself.

You can easily see that Yao still does not have the mobility back. I guess it will take a while, but I would be more than happy for Yao to just be a finisher at the momenth, as he did a couple of times when he caught the ball deep in the paint.

A lot of Yao's dominance last night can be attributed to how the Pacers refused to employ the Phoenix-type defense where they try to enforce a hard double on Yao- you know when they double him before and as soon as his hands touch the ball. Especially when we were 5-21 from 3, and Head+Alston were 2 for 17 from the field.

I know that the Pacers don't have fast and lanky fowards like Amare and Marion but still, at least try it a few times just because that seems to be the only strategy that really shuts Yao down.

Well, on the other hand, if they did employ that hard double on Yao early on, we might not have seen the poor shooting from Rafer and Head. I think they watched the game video against the Sixers. It's always a great feeling to have multiple weapons. And it's a very good sign of a good team, to close out ugly games when you are not really playing great.

I think Foster actually defended yao quite well. Yao dominanted the 4th quarter when Murphy was guarding him who are too short and not strong enough but to foul yao. I think that caused yao to gain confidence and continue to roll!

The responses in this thread totally boggle the mind. The YOF's are back, but they picked a very odd game to emerge from their lurking status. They could have picked the clippers game or the suns game....

And to all you YOF's who want to whine about how Yao played like crap yesterday... he played so poorly, he was so out of sync, that he had 32-14-3-2 on 10/17 shooting. Take that.

32 and 14. plus at one point scoring 10 in a row in the 4th when the game was extremely close.

plus he did it against one of the best post defenders out there in Jeff Foster.

Then he'd be called 5 fouls in 2 quaters and you'd blame him on the loss.

If 32/14 from a man who'd only played 9 games after a 3 month injury, who's still wearing tape around the middle and ring fingers, who dislocated his miidle finger less than two weeks ago still can't please you, nothing can.

While I agree 6 TOs is a little high, Yao absoluetly saved our a@# in this game and was head and shoulders the best player on the floor. I wish we had more players with those type of butter fingers - you know the ones that score 32 on 65% FG shooting and grab 14 boards.

There are unrealistic YOFs who wish to see Yao turn into a superman overnight. At a glance, they may look not much different from YOHs.

Yao's TO will go down once he gets his fingers healed and his conditioning returns to normal. He did come back from a 32 day layoff and you can't just get in NBA game shape after just 9-10 games. I believe it will take Yao another 8 games to get into NBA game shape.

Yao has this high slow dribble that opposing teams take advantage of. He's had that dribble since he has been in the league so I wonder if it can be fixed. He is aware of the problem because he always talks about it but short of fixing his ball handling technique, he needs to not put it on the floor in traffic as much.

It's funny how, following that stretch, the opinion of Rockets fans and Pacers fans is virtually identical.

I was reading through a Pacers message board last night and there was like 5 consecutive posts saying "I hate Yao Ming".

Although it still does boggle the mind how people can complain about a nice guy putting up 32 points on 17 shots and pulling down 14 rebounds.
