Poor Yao. First the Marbury crossover and now the block by Nate Robinson. It could happen to anybody. Even Hakeem was stuffed on a dunk attempt by a 6'4" guy. Of course, that guy was Charles Barkley, not Nate Robinson. Patrick Ewing was stuffed by 5'3" Muggsy Bogues once. Saw it on Letterman when Muggsy was a guest.
and not that J. Williams guy who destroyed his career by driving such a dangerous vehicle just for fun
I agree with you on this one.. I really think Yao should be more aggressive not in his basketball moves, but from a MENTAL aspect.. he should have the mindset of: nobody has the guts to come close to me.. if you block me, you're gonna get hurt.. I mean, I am pretty sure if he had this kind of aggressiveness, he would've thrown Nate to the ground and destroyed him in front of everybody.. then he should go to him while he's on the ground and go "THAT'S WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU MESS WITH THE BIG GUY", kinda like football player do when they tackle somebody... dont get me wrong though, I really like the current Yao right now.. all I care about is getting the W... wether they laugh at him or not, I dont care.. I just think it's better for him to end all that crap and prove that he is a man.. if I were in his place, I would be pretty pissed if everybody in the whole world is laughing at me because national TV channels keep showing a 5'9 guy blocking me... I am 5'7, played PG in high school.. even though everybody expected a 5'7 guy to keep getting blocked by others, I got really pissed even when I get blocked by a 6'8 guy... a block in basketball is like talking about your mom in real life...
omg.. they are still talking about it right now on ESPN ... it's NBA FASTBREAK and they have Alan Houston.. before they said "thanks for watching" in the end they were like "that block by Nate was amazing"... wtf?? get over it..
lmao on these.. .. even though it's really sad, I couldn't help but laugh at "the 7'6 vagina"... holy crap... I mean, please, a Freak of nature.. wtf??
This will be in the next NBA 2K video game, just like the Marbury crossing over YAO was in the one I have....on the HOUSTON monitors at Toyota Center... GOD...I'll never buy one of their games again. I'm still not cool with that.... /end rant.
What is a shame is that you consider yourself a rockets fan when you obvious ignore the fact that Yao did get hit HARD in the eye afterwards. You say you root for the Rockets but at the same time root against one of their franchise players. Your a moron and a troll.
I cant believe ppl consider that a legit block!!! People, Yao does not flop and most certainly does not act that he got fouled. You rockets fans that think that was a nice block, u guys are insane...esp that Newyorker dude!!!!
NewYorker, once again, you got stuck in a pointless discussion with YOFs and newbs.. all the newbs hate you now.. what a shame they put u on ignore... if I were u, I would be so ashamed because I am on the ingore list of such important characters..
Folks shooting back at studogg on this need to turn on their sarcasm detector! You guys missed it. Stu is saying that Yao is DOMINATING all the other centers in the NBA and all they have is this pathetic come-back in response to his domination.
You've only been here since April, how are you any less of a newb than anyone else? So you AGREE that Yao faked getting smacked in the eye/face by the Nate? Judging by your SN, you wouldn't happen to be a Mac only fan would you?
Yeah..I just find it's funny that these so-called TOFs keep calling out the YOFs. If these people do exists, everyone in either of the two groups are idiots.
May be we should have a live show... someone pokes NewYorker in his eye...let's see how he will react after it. It's gonna be fun to watch, especially when the one being poked is NewYorker.
Nate did not beat the hell out of Yao! He blocked his shot and on the follow-through grazed his face. It wasn't even a poke! You guys aren't helping Yao look good here. Whatever, it happened, it was a great block and that's the end of it. Why can't people admit it?
Ya know, I don't even try to get into a discussion with the YOFs and rookies. I feel sorry for them. It appears that they have begun to tie their own self-worth to Yao Ming. So if someone criticizes Yao, they take it as a personal attack. They are not basketball fans, not even Rockets fans....it's like they have this inferiority complex and the only way you can appease them is to worship their god who is Yao Ming. I think Yao is great. I'm most impressed with his work ethic and how much he respects the game. He's got a great heart, and has a lot of class. He's more of a finesse player then power, and there's nothing wrong with that. His game has places where it needs work - but he's exceeded my expectations and pretty much everyone's. The reason that's not good enough is because people taouted him to be the best things since the wheel. People said he was going to dominate and blow the league apart. Many of the same fans who are crying about the lack of respect Yao gets now were boosting how much Yao was going to dominate Shaq and be the greatest center to ever live. Well, when you put someone on a pedestal, guess what, people love to see them fall off of it. People love to see Yao fall off the pedestal. But that's the fault of those who put him up on the pedestal to begin with. To anyone who calls me a YOH,you're living in denial because that's the furthest thing from the truth. I didn't pay $250 to get great seats to see VSPAN play. I paid the money to see Yao and T-mac. And as a Rockets fan, it's embarrassing to have a rockets cap and then see Yao get stuffed the hell out of him. So please, don't question my loyalty just because I'm not defending yao at any cost...I criticize him as I would any other player. I'm a basketball fan first and I respect and love the game. It's not all about winning to me. It's about HOW YOU PLAY THE GAME. I love the Rockets, and I am still a Rockets fan despite not having been to Houston in 15 years because the Rockets are the standard in sportsmanship and class. The players and city have always been classy. Yao is a fine example of that. Now I hope that many of you newbies and YOF appreciate that. Understand that the language and curse words on this BBS isn't just an annoyance to many of us....it's a black eye on Rockets fans - it's a disservice to the Rockets who are a classy organization. It makes Rockets fans look bad. I don't care if you wish to make yourself look bad, but as a Houston Rockets fan, I ask that you all clean up these garbage posting and show some respect for this BBS and the people who have invested time building this forum for you to post in. They didn't put that hard work so you can curse out and express your frustration. They want intelligent thoughtful discussion. Now show some class if you have any!
Very well said. But I think the above quote fittingly describes your own posting style. you should be the first one to learn from your past mistakes and not to do what you have described above again. It'd be nice if you look into the mirror, look yourself in the eyes and shout out the above quote to yourself at least 5 times. Just be real to yourself.
New Yorder, i feel ya. ppl put yao on top like he's God without looking at reality. Gosh, so freaking annoying.
I did not say what you quoted me saying. Please don't put words into my mouth. And I take it you've never been hit in the eye before. YOF are biased as hell, and annoying as hell, I'm not even going to try to argue that. In fact, I agree with it. But regardless, you come off as someone rooting against Yao at least, if not the Rockets. You constantly try to dismiss race as the reason for anything, but at the same time you try to brand all JVG haters as Chinese even though it is very obvious that many of them, and some of the most vocal ones, are not. That's it, I'm done with you. I don't care about your opinions. I didn't come on this board to argue with you.
