Yao could be unstopable if our guards could put the ball inside the paint

I wish I were close enough to be in frame but no.

Hey, my position is this. While I love Yao and am ready to put all the eggs in one basket, I've loved the Rockets for as long as I can remember. I HATE STUPID BASKETBALL.

    gucci,
Yao had 2 fouls during that stretch. You extend him and play him tired when the situation calls for it. Like when you hit your winnings limit at the Hold'em table, get up to leave, when the big, rich drunk plops down and starts throwing his money away. You stay and fleece him. Same thing. I promise you JVG is kicking himself.

Not yet. But tonight Yao was better... against a very motivated ONeal.

shaq is on the down slope of his career. yao will get better.

would be interesting to hear what he says tonight. don't think he can diss yao with a straight face. the loss stinks, but i really don't think you can blame yao. i mean he could have stayed out of foul trouble better but i think someone posted this he's not god.

Only in Houston? Or is it only your own opinion? Go read the lakersground board. You will be very surprised.

I wouldn't read too much into this game. The Lakers are about the only team that chooses to play Yao straight up because they have Shaq. Everyone else collapses their defense around him and dares our guards and forwards to make good decisions - something they usually don't do well. Yao looks pretty good against the type of defense LA throws at him but to me that's more of an aberration. Watch how Minn will defend against Yao on Friday and you'll get a better idea of what Yao can do against the top teams in the West

Head to head Yao matches up well with Shaq arguing this is pointless. The difference between Yao and Shaq is this: When Shaq is being played by an inferior opponent he abuses them relentlessly and makes them look like they should have stayed home. When Yao plays and inferior opponent he tends to take it easy on them unless they try to push him around and hack him, then he gets mad.

The best defense against Yao is to be nice to him and he will be nice back. Shaq takes pleasure in abusing the nice guys.

Farhan007, you gotta understand, there is no SF hating for the sake of hating around here. There might be Yao hating though.

The difference between Yao and Shaq is that Yao plays within the rules of the game and relies on actual basketball skill. Ask Mo Taylor if he respects Shaq's basketball skills.

If Steve is still the franchise then why doesn't he take over when Yao is on the bench. He has had the opportunity to take over games when Yao is on the bench. Enough excuses for this guy. It is crunch time, he has to put up or shut up.

I'm sorry but, Shaq may not be the most "skilled" basketball player, but disrespecting him is just stupid.

Does it ever get lonely in that bubble or underneath that rock?

Actually Yao could be unstoppable if our guards could put the ball in the basket more. Yao gets double teamed because our back court misses so many open shots and layups. You know, we probably get more dunks than any other team in the league with Cato and Yao, but probably blow the most layups (Francis and Cat).

If Shaq has to elbow Mo Taylor in the head to score on him, then i do not respect his game, nor should any other person who loves the game of basketball. Really, what is there to respect? He's a great athlete and a very strong, large man. I'll give him that, but in my book, he is not a true basketball player. He is dominant because he is larger and more athletic than everyone else, and many rules of the game do not apply to him.

I wish he would just retire already so we can enjoy more great matchups between real basketball players like Duncan, Garnett, Webber and Yao. I'm sick of the distortion Shaq brings to a game, and the ugly-ass brickfests from the freethrow line. Obviously, other fans are as well, or else they would have voted him as the starter of the allstar game. Hell, I wouldn't mind if he played several more years if the refs just called a fair game, but we all know that's not going to happen anytime soon.
