You know you remind mind me of all the delusional views that a number of folks had about Yao's toe recovery. There was a bunch of folks saying that the estimates were conservative and that he would be back sooner blah blah blah. Turns out they were dead wrong.

    Let's look at the facts related to Bibby's, Brand's, & Mohammed's injuries.

Bibby - missed 27 games and was out for 10 weeks not six (surgery was 10/12/02 and he came back 12/17/02). This is pretty remarkable but at the end of the season he let the fact be known that HE HAD NEVER FULLY RECOVERED FROM THE INJURY DURING THE SEASON.

Brand's fracture that required surgery happened when he was at Duke not the injury he had with the Clippers in 2003. He was out about 6 weeks and came back to play the last part of Duke's season. They had anticipated him to be out 10 weeks so this was an improvement by about 1 month. He played in a total of 21 games.

Mohammed's injury in 2002 had him out for about 2 months but they hadn't opted for surgery. In that same season he suffered the SAME FRACTURE in Mar 8, 2003 and ended his season. They opted finally to go with surgery to repair after the 2nd fracture.

I would say that the early returns for Bibby & Mohammed serve as a warning to the risks you run by pushing it. Brand's return is remarkable but the college season and physical stresses are much lower than what occurs at the NBA level.

    Excellent point Tango.

Coming from a doctor's family background, I will say people who are wildly optimistic about surgery recovery time need to put down the pipe & take a cold shower.

Anything involves bone fracture takes a minimum 4 months, 6 months IS the norm.

    Guys,

We should all just chill out....

Personally, I hope Yao is healthy enough to play in the WC, that means he will come into the season in better shape.

I think we are lucky to have Yao and the Chinese should be proud of him, glad to have him on my Rockets.

25 and 12 for the next 7 years is not bad.
