You can bash the YOF's, but you wouldn't bash Yao himself, right? If you read his interviews, his book, and watched his documentary, you'll find that his loyalty towards the CNT is quite strong. He wants desparately for chinese basketball to advance, ultimately towards a medal in 2008. If he could do anything to help that he would. I think whether he plays in the world championship depends on how well his recovery goes. I'd put 50/50 odds on him playing.

Meh, he should stick to counter-strike. Back to the topic, 4-6 months is not looking good..he's probably coming back when the next season has already started.

I'm more worried that this explosive confidence he has "suddenly" gained since his toe injury will recede into cautious play, fearing reinjury. It might take him a lot longer than a few painless games to regain that unconcious play.

And I can't imagine how this will affect his jumping.

Damn, even here people have their own agendas concerning Yao. People are happy Yao got hurt? No, they're glad Yao can shut it down. Read Bucher's article and tell me he's not grateful it's over.

And the rampant speculation (fear) here is manifesting itself with posts from people who are determined to throw a frikkin' fit.

I have said from day one that I thought the whole "YOF" stuff was bs and a copout from guys presuming too much about people's intent. But the last 24 hours has changed my mind.

Yao's my favorite player in the NBA, but last night he didn't want to come out after his foot was broken, and he didn't. If you really need someone to blame, then blame Yao.

Despite what some people here think NBA greatness means finally getting to the point where the coach becomes a cosmic irrelevance. Good coaches have superstar's ears, and for all the criticism I can muster for JVG I have to admit even T-Mac really still listens to him.

But Yao has to be his own man if he's truly going to be great. And maybe, just maybe he was last night.

If you want (or in the mood to thrive on) fear how about Rox management quotes when T-Mac shut it down? His back was not a chronic situation but it's a chronic problem. Huh?

Yao's left foot is peanuts right now in comparison. Nobody have a hernia unless you want one, but if you're so inclined give Yao and this organization an iota of respect. Very few people outside of Hoston seem to.

Four to six months rehab. is good for Yao. This is a much needed rest after the gruesome second half of average 37minutes per game. This could be a blessing in disguise. Remember how much he had improved since the last surgery. I say, have a good rest Yao. You really deserve it. Stuff anybody who think otherwise.

Please calm down, if Yao would have had this injury during the summer most of us would have been ticked off with the CNT. So, you can see how those that support Yao in the CNT are feeling right now. I just hope and pray that Yao does rehab at a slow pace and not rush for the games in August but knowing how loyal Yao is he will be there in what ever the CNT needs him. Let us hope this summer bolds well for the Rockets both in the draft and free agent pick ups or trades.

........vice president of CBA just said that he didn't believe A surgery will take 4~6 months to recovery. he literally just said that CD is wrong or the Announcement isn't true.. the max recovery time he gave Yao is 60 days which in his word "4~8 weeks"
Here is the link it is in chinese The quotation in the middle is the president didn't believe what CD said.

    NO, HE DIDNT SAY THAT

If you believe the article, he said that they keep in touch with Team Yao everyday and they were told that it would take about 2 months. Therefore, he suspects the AP writer (the AP news that Yao's out for 4-6 months) might misunderstand the situation. He thinks they will have more accurate information tomorrow morning (china time).

With all due respect, I hope you understand that your misinterpretation of the article could be the start of another potential flame war in this forum.

Who gives a crap about the chinese national team(unless you're chinese)? This could be a good thing. Yao can get a much deserved rest this summer and come back stronger than ever.

So glad a rational post here.

For those who think CNT is crappy, you have to accept this is Yao's priorty:

    1. CNT
    2. Rockets

    unfortunate but true.

When you have a 6" vertical to begin with, I don't think you have much to worry about there. :D

I think it is admirable. No different than our old time ballplayers that went off and fought in the war. Country was #1. Playing pro ball, #2.

I made this point before, it's admirable for Yao to want to play for his team. I think if he was rushed by the CNT to play in the WC, it will be a horrible mistake on their part that will have a major negative impact on both rest of Yao's career and CNT chances in 08 where the games are in Beijing.
