Well, maybe China still wants Ming to play for some other team. Could it be that China is forcing the hand of the Rockets to trade Ming to Golden state or New York?

China was all lovey dubbie when New York was trying to recruit Yao Ming. I just don't think China want Ming in Houston.

Let's not forget that Cato still has a lot of potential left in him. Cato, our center to continue.

I've yet to hear credible confirmation of this "report". I'm inclined to believe someone is having a little "fun".

I heard this on 610 am on my drive home.

And don't forget yesterday in the paper where Goldberg was very defensive saying that Yao was only going to play in Houston. Making it sound as if China had suggested a trade, now that Ming got the honor of being selected number 1.

Maybe the rumors that we heard all before the pre draft selection had some validity. China may want Yao in New York or back in China.

Beleive me I hate thinking about this, but this is driving me nuts. Cato isn't that bad is he?

I think China is asking Rockets to keep Ming forever (not to trade him at anytime even after his rookie year contract) so that they can control Ming's duty to NT through Rockets. Look at Wang. Dallas cannot keep their promise to China when Wang is a free agent this year.

If that is the issue then it is a no brainer and totally up to Yao to continue to play for the Rox throughout his career.

Ya, Ya, it all depends on the money aspect but Yao could always play for the Rox if he wanted to because i don't believe at this time the Rox would ever turn him down on the opportunity to play here. Just look at their history of keeping centers.

i know it is more complicated than this explanation but my main point still sticks, in that most players choose to move on to other teams for money reasons than team loyalty.

Rudyball:- If you know anything about Yao Ming, you would not think it applied to him. Asian Orientals are very loyal.

I heard it on the radio too. "Glitch" was the word of choice and they said they would sign him something like 1/2 a month to a month.

The Rockets cannot make promises about future contracts. It goes completely against the collective bargaining agreement. It may even been considered a violation just to discuss it.

In addition, I cannot the Rockets EVER giving a no-trade, we-will-always-offer-you-a-contract agreement. No team is going to lock themselves into one player forever without seeing him play and seeing if he is a success. I don't care when they took him. If that were the case, they would've been stuck with Ralph Sampson even with his injury problems.

OK. Well, let's hope it's no biggie. I'm trying real hard to not get ticked off at the people on the Chinese end of this. (more than I am already) These "games" are getting beyond tiresome. (I'm speaking of the official "games", the political games.)

    et al,

didn't mean to imply that they would make it contract agreement, only that it would be a personal decision by Yao whether or not to leave the Rox when the contract is over and a new one discussed. Nor was I questioning YM's loaylty :)

i already believe he is very loyal and will be a Rocket until his playing days are over because i know the Rockets are very loyal to ballers who give their loyalty and effort to the team !

Since it's a glitch, it's a glitch. We can start to worry if no contract after the asian games, but right now, just relax.....
