Don't compare this to Ilgauskas. He had a degenerative foot condition. They actually had to go in and break his foot twice and repair it just to get it to set correctly.

If this is a hairline fracture, this is nothing compared to what he had.

For those of you making light of all this...

Just freakin great. Looks like if we're lucky it'll be 4-5 months before Yao can even begin trying to workout on the floor with any form of hard lateral movement. Worst case is that we end up with a Ilgaskus injury.

How bad can it be if he played for a minute after breaking it?

It's confirmed in the game broadcast. What is JVG thinking? Yao was injured the previous game in a back-to-back situation, and they have no hope of making the play-off, why do you need Yao even play in this meaningless game?

    Dear JVG,

This Frahm guy, sheesh, I hope he gets some more minutes to recover from his first impressions. And Magic Lamp: come on JVG, show us what we've got. I'm not saying tank-- just try to win with our bench "talent" so we can see what these dudes can or can't do. Also, please free Chuck Hayes; any time you're tempted to insert RyBo, use Chuck instead, for goodness' sake.

Please limit Yao's minutes and consider not playing him at all. The cherry atop the feces cake this season has been would be an Achilles' tear or foot fracture or... back injury for Yao. Let's live to fight next season.

Being able to walk out on your own has no indication of the seriousness of a jones fracture.

    http://www.puntersrealm.com/10471-Michael-Owens-Injury-Explination.html

Michael Owens injured the summer World Cup Finals - walked off the field. The projection was initially 4 months but because of how difficult it is for jones fractures to heal they'll be lucky if he's back in 6 months.

Well the good news is this article is about the rehabilitation of soccer player injured with Jones Fracture. That's all I want to say.

You're right, it does suck. But it seems as long as he doesn't do drills with hard cuts, he should be fine. The article said the bone will heal in 6 - 8 weeks, so he can probably start doing light excercised during the summer to keep in shape. He should be good to go around Sep. and be a to participated in the preseason.

You guys who are freaking out right now and sensationalizing the thing need to stop being lameasses. Just stop. You're annoying the rational people.

It sucks that he wasn't sitting out the rest of the games, yes, but it doesn't sound too serious and it'll get us a better pick.

Those who say "it's the best thing can happen to Yao" or "Yao's acting it" have no idea at all.

True, but you never know what could have happened on the court. Yao shouldn't even have been put in that position, imo.

They should have pulled Yao's season when he sprained his foot last night, I mean Yao was hurting like hell one minute and the next he was waving his sub out... We gotta stop listening to Yao.

Well, I still think most of it is speculation at this point. We don't have all the facts. There hasn't been any official medical diagnosis released, so I don't htink everyone should hit the panic button just yet.
