It's a broken foot at the end of a season where we have no chance to make the playoffs. Lighten up, he'll be back for next season. Bones only take about 4-5 weeks to heal normally. Maybe 7-8 weeks if there are complications. If it is full break where the bone is not attached? We're in trouble. I didn't see it, but was his foot limp? Like floppy?

Yao could have plenty of rest without this injury. He could actually spend more time doing conditioning.

Any bone fracture on foot for a big guy like Yao Ming is never good. Getting rest isn't any real relieve to my concern.

It just looked like his ankle was still hurting from the last game, no indication of a broken bone. He was walking with a slight limp, that's all.

Please friends, I need a HUGE favor. If someone can pull up that link of the Marc Stein article that said that David Wesley was wanted by many contending teams before the trade deadline. I know it was a main topic about 6 weeks ago. My friend was hating on Wesley and said that the Bobcats wouldn't even take him for the minimum, and I told him that there is a credible source that many teams wanted Wesley, but at the time we were 5 games under .500, everyone was healthy, and we were making a move so JVG thought we had a chance. PLEASE GUYS. Thanks!

Worst thing to me is that there might be some pressure for him to come back too soon because of pressure to play for China and he develops some kind of compensation injury.

Wesley was valued as an expiring contract. His shooting has been good, defense good, but he's just undersized. I remember a thread on what you are asking.

I doubt he wants to take the summer off. he takes great pride in playing for the CNT. WC games are important games to all players in the world (except american players).

This could be the best thing for Yao, drag it out big man drag it out. Even when it recovers and he's jogging and doing "non game situation excercise" he can still say he's too hurt from any summer committments.

If it's 6- 8 weeks in jury.... it's awesome (as long as he's smart enough to use it blow off summer committments), if it's several months....... let's try and get Francis back here for Juwan and change, Francis and T - Mac court.. Yeah.

I think I would be severely disappointed if Yao rushes back to play WC games. It's a second tier tournament, save it for the Olympics.

I love how some fans have the attitude that we shouldn't worry, cause it's just a broken foot.....he'll recover and be back next year.

There is nothing comforting about anything that's broken. So pissed off.

Uh oh. Big men with bad feet are a real problem. Let's hope it heals cleanly and permanently.

WC games are bigger than NBA Champions to Yao and China basketball team

Ouch, just when we start hoping a better next season.

I think he probably won't play in the WC, it's too risky for everyone.

I doubt Yao thinks like you do. Actually, I highly doubt it, from the evidence that he wanted to play in this game.

If the report about bone fracture is true, you shouldn't crack those jokes. As I said it earlier, bone fracture isn't something you can fake, they have doctors in Utha, you know.

Probably the same people at the beginning of this season who said "dont worry, we'll be fine, they'll turn it on watch and see"

    Already hit AP:

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Houston Rockets center Yao Ming broke his left foot when another player stepped on it late in the first quarter against Utah on Monday night.

The Chinese star appeared to be injured when Utah's Andrei Kirilenko stepped on his foot while the two were under the basket. Yao got the offensive rebound and converted the three-point play after Kirilenko was called for a foul.

After making the layup, Yao bent down and rubbed his left foot before going to the line. He left the game about a minute later.

Yao, averaging 22.6 points and 10.3 rebounds, had five points, two rebounds and a block in 8:31 before leaving the game.

Houston was already without leading scorer Tracy McGrady, who is out for the rest of the season with a back injury.

Does China actually broadcast WC games if the CNT is not playing?
