Yao has proven to be a good healer and I wouldn't be surprise if he is back by the first week of March.

Naaaaaah, he had not been playing a little bit of basketball lately. He had only been practicing shooting sitting on a chair.

And Yao Ming is not feeling great. He felt frustrated and depressed, as reflected in the latest interview with sina.com, which I translated and posted in the Dedicated Thread of Yao Ming's Rehabilitation.

Yao Ming knows well that he should not rush for a premature comeback. He should not gamble with his career, cos the knee is dfferent, and is more serious than injuries to the other parts of his body.

He said he would not rush for his return, even though he is anxious and eager to be able to return to court.

The following is what he said in the sina.com interview:-

He is just resting up to be fully healthy for his CNT committment this summer.

    :D

Just kidding.....I hope he comes back at the end of February, but the fracture sounds really minor.

Probably something that would be missed without the MRI, and something that people in the old days played on after a month or so.

    A little sensitive are you?

That is not at all what I am saying. From what I understand the fracture did not show up on the X-Rays but rather barely showed up on the MRI....

So in the old days they would have thought it was a bone bruise and as soon as the pain was gone he would have started playing....and more than likely he would have been fine doing that.

However, with today's technologies they were able to find it and make sure he is fully recovered before he plays.

That is what I was saying...nothing more.

No reason to ruin his career..rest him as long as we get in the play off.anyteam we play will be a hard one anyway.

It only takes a game to play through a minor injury and have the doc tell you you're out for the rest of the season without feeling like it.

Hilarious! In fact, will there be minuates available for Yao with Mutombo, Howard and Hayes getting a lot of minutes in the front court!? Yao might have to bide his time just like Snyder, Bonzi and Vspan! ;)

In all seriousness. The Yao Return date does not surprise me. ALL ALONG they said Yao would be doing "on court" drills sometime in Mid-Feb. From that point on, it is all about "rehabilitation" and getting his "conditioning back." Those are kind of nebulous in terms of results. I mean, when is Yao 80% or 90%? He either can play or he can't. And from the time he gets back in the rotation until the playoffs he will just continue to get better and shake off the rust.

I think how the Rockets team is doing record-wise at that time will play a part in his return date. But ultimately I think Yao will be back in early March.
