So now the temper tantrum and offense about this thread can die. Maybe everyone can act like adults from now on and stop the flaming and stupid rolleyes.

Thank you denniscd for starting the thread. Too bad you aren't authentic enough for some people.

I read an interview of Yao (in sina or sohu a few week ago) and he talked about his shoulder injury. He said he felt pain when catching the ball and the surgey will be unavoidable. Yao's delaying the surgery for the Olympics.

Yao is hoping to hold the surgey for one more year because it will take a long time to recover. He is fine as far as shooting the ball;however; he felt some pain when he try to push the arm forward(throw long pass).

    Thanks Andy.....

That was what the Chinese websites were reporting in the past 2 months.

They also reported he decided to take conservative physical therapy on the shoulder.....as well as to work more on the muscles there around the shoulder joint so as to surround/strengthen the articular cartilage there.

I don' think I owed denniscd an apology.

I don't think I have done anything wrong. I did not accuse him for making up stories about Yao Ming spraining his ankle.

I've just tried to clarify/point out to him and the posters/readers here Yao Ming could not have sprained his ankle by his national team team mate (as denniscd claimed) as all the national teams were not in China the past 2 weeks.

So even now as A Yao confirmed that Yao Ming had sprained his ankle during a workout, that's still not as denniscd claimed in first place that he sprained his ankle by a national team team mate.

    See the difference here?

its pretty clear looking at the first page that everyone was about to bash the CNT and the fact that Yao spends his offseason with them because the first post mentioned the chinese national team. I'm glad that it's all cleared up. the chinese national team had nothing to do with the sprains and were half a world away.

The above statement makes me puke. Do we have to be so political?

Ad hominem. Heard about this before? You are attacking on p's personality. Can we please try to focus on the FACTS here? As far as the ankle-spraining thing is concerning, I'm seeing what's logical thinking and what's ad hominem.

the shoulder is a serious issue and could require surgery at anytime. it will have the same rehab time as wade...4 to 6 months...he cant have it after the olympics or he will be out a majority of the season....should have had it immediately after this season.

Is surgery the last resort option or is it the only option?

How about the conservative treatment that Yao is currently undergoing? How long would it postpone the surgery or would it alleviate the need for surgery altogether?

Well, 4 ~ 6 months is the recovery time before the actual rehabilitation. That is why after serious consideration, Yao Ming decided to postpone the surgery, and instead relies on conservative physical therapy treatment and more ardent strength and conditioning exercise on the muscles around the shoulder so as to protect the shoulder joint and cartilage better.

Can someone explain exactly what is wrong with Yao's shoulder?

D-Wade had a major dislocation, does Yao's shoulder pop in and out? Or is it bone spurs, what, exactly is wrong with it?

Partial tear of a muscle IIRC. He will weighing his options on whether to have surgery and then decided against it because it'll take a long time (well into the next season) to recover and 08 Olympics is around corner so he wants to do the operation after that since the doctors say he can get treatment w/o operation for the time being.

So we won't have a full season of Yao at 100% until 2009-10 at the soonest? That sucks.
