Arent these threads a little (make that a LOT) repetitive?

Alston isnt ideal people,we know that.

JVG isn't Phil Jackson (thank goodness for that)

We know, and we understand the frustration. But wouldnt these threads be best saved for the offseason when there's stuff all else to discuss?

    Please...

I second that. JVG is too stubborn and stupid. Even New York and Nuggets can win the games vs Jazz and Wizards with so many players not playing, why could not Rox win a game, with the opponent being a team like Blazers? I admit if tmac could play, we might have won the game, but I do not think JVG could escape from bearing the main responsibility. I really hate him and pray that he be fired.

Which God are you praying to?

I dont know one that honors hate with an answer to prayer involving someone being fired.

    :p

Rafer plays way too many minutes

JVG with his stuberness will destroy this team

how about a rotation, if Lucas doesn't work, put in Spanoulis

I don't care, but give Rafer a break, he can't play 40 minites per game

JVG's style is to always play tight games and win in the end.

This keeps them in the game against teams with more talent but conversely it keeps teams with lesser talent in the game too.

I am frustrated that JVG has not played his bench more...particularly with Tmac out and how clearly it is that some of the players on the court are not a good mix with a Yao only team......

Sure Rafer should probably play 25-30 ideally, but there's no choice.

Neither Lucas not Spanoulis works consistently well in games, and you don't have time to putz around with both in order to determine who might have an acceptable day every game.

Most likely, there needs to be an trade in order to reduce Alston's workload.

There is a choice....he could pull Rafer and put in V-SPan or JL3 for periods of play so that Rafer is RESTED in the 4th quarter.

JVG is one of the biggest reasons the team can not win without Tmac......there are pieces on the bench that fit a Yao only team better than the ones that are playing.

The team needs a playmaker on the floor...someone to set the table for the other players.......because it is far too easy to defend the Rockets when there is ZERO creativity on the floor.

JVG is a big part of the problem.

VSpan and JL3 has not been reliable so far this season. They are not ready even for "periods of play." They do not fit NBA competition better than Rafer, unfortunately. Hell, at their current state, they don't fit NBA competiton much better than Dan Langhi (sorry... cheap shot :) ). Each had a few shiny moments, that's not enough to rely on.

Seems to me you are thinking exactly like Jeff. First, rookies are not reliable----and that is why they are called "the rookies", do that prevent other coaches from playing them? Second, they can not develop and become reliable with their butt glued to the bench night in and out. When Alston went 4-14, I seriously doubt our bench couldn't bring anything better. By the way, last time I checked, Garnett was frustrated by Lakers' bench, whom our bench players dropped 26-1. Fact is that there are always risks in playing bench players more but when your starter is not looking good, it is always worth a change other than waiting for the final whistle. Don't you get that?

The bottom line is that the Rockets have 3 back up PG's on their roster. I wouldn't mind Rafer as a backup seeing that he'd then be able to push the ball when Yao is not in the game.

Even when, hopefully, Tracy comes back I'll still hate to see Rafer starting the game b/c he makes horrible decisions, is an inconsistent shooter, and makes an entry pass look like a monumental task.

Before the deadline Tracy or no Tracy, winning or losing, they'll need a pass-first distributor with a nice shot to make this team a little more complete. It's time to package V-Span or JLIII with an expiring contract and a pick. A guy in the mold of a Ridnour would be perfect, but not sure who else is out there.

It's either make a move or start clearing cap space for Chauncey Billups who'll either be a FA this year or next.

Considering that we've lost 4 of the last 5 games, in retrospect it probably would have been worthwhile to get our younger players more playing time and experience. Particularly Spanoulis.

Too many minutes for Yao Ming. He will be worn down and/or injured before the All-Star break.

JVGundy hand picked that roster. Don't kid yourself. He has his hand in everything that goes on there. To think otherwise is a joke.

Find someone to help Yao or no rings will come.

    i'll be nice and say:

if we just had another offensive option besides yao (head, bonzi, rafer aren't cutting it) we would've have easily gone 4-1 without tmac up to this point.

i'm not even talking about an all-star type scorer. ricky davis, mike james, stackhouse, mobely, atkins, m.miller, finley, mo pete...

MLE guys. anyone that can create thier own shot on the perimeter would balance the offense so teams can't put 5 guys on yao.

You may be right but let's try someone else and find out. JVG had his chance. The project didn't work time to move on! He has always claimed that every team at this level has enough talent and the difference is coaching discipline and determination. I never agreed with that statement but he is the coach and it is his job to instill discipline and determination. He has failed. We are a good team but we are not going anywhere in the playoffs with JVG. If a new coach doesn't make a difference than I will admit I was wrong about JVG but please let us just stop the pain now!

Maybe, but for the most part, these were close games, so maybe the young players had played, they wouldn't even have had a chance as they did to win it at the end.

They did well in the blowout vs. Lakers bench in the 4th, but that wasn't against the regulars.

Bottom line to me is that the team has JVG for the rest of the year at least (Les doesn't seem the sort that likes to pay for two coaches at the same time), and management knows 1)young kids had been unreliable when they did play and 2)JVG doesn't trust unreliable players. My guess is they will go out and find some veteran help so the Rockets don't get stuck with a too-short rotation.

    thats impossible for right now

all of our plays go thru Yao

Yao has been a beast, but he can't do everything alone..I just hope he doesn't get injured. I would be so pissed at JVG!

JVG wants everything thru Yao, he expects Mac and Yao to carry the whole team, without even trying other options

why don't we try Bonzi as our main option one game...just try it, see if it works...have him create and take shots....

JVG tried last night, and Bonzi got enough shoots when he was on court, with 2/10 as the result.
