I was just being facetious, but in all honesty I don't mind this one bit. These are our star players and with the playoffs right around the corner they have to look out for their own health, and should not risk further injury if they're already bothered by something. JVG doesn't have to like it, he too is looking out for his own good (his job) and no one blames him for it.
I guess Yao and Tmac's back problems are from carrying the team all season. So the question now is, is there any left chance of us winning 50 games?
nah jvg is just sending yao a message and benching him. apparently that's how it works on this board.
I'm glad JVG had the foresight to see that injuries to TMac and Yao were possible and worked Bonzi into the rotation so that Bonzi developed good rapport with teammates and got himself into game shape. If he's good enough to start when TMac is out, why isn't he good enough to come off the bench when TMac is in?
If that's truly JVG's intention and making, then he's got my respect. Let's hope Yao's just taking a rest from all the worn and tear. We have to remember Yao still has a dislocated finger, he needs to recover from it too.
I guess T-Mac and Yao found a way to force JVG to develop the bench. Seriously though JVG had all season to get other players to contribute, better late then never.
From what I understand and based on his own comments, JVG might not be too thrilled about it and doesn't seem to be 'in' on the whole thing.
Yeah, that's my personal theory as well and I am sticking to it. I don't need no stinking proof, we just theorize around here for the heck of it because we can!
My theory: Yao is having back pain but not so much that he has to sit out. JVG tells him no, sit this one out. Same thing for Tmac. Why? JVG realizes that the bench SUCKS. He needs to develop them. Why not against a bad NBA team?
Actually I was being sarcastic. My point was that Bonzi should have been worked into the rotation throughout the year so that at times like this Bonzi would be ready to lead the team. Now we are in a situation where we have to activate an inactive player to be the focal point of our offense, and he is going to be rusty.
Don't forget that JVG doesn't want the pressure of beating the Jazz because he has homecourt and thus would be expected to. By being the 'underdog', he deflects blame and -- should we lose -- can say to Les after the season, "no one expected us to win anyways!" Ironically, he would still get fired...
Yao's back pain is probably caused from opposing players pushing his back 20 minutes a game and the refs not calling it.
