OK Yao, ya see, the ball here,....it's like Taiwan. If you don't get mad and just take possession of it, well, it's just not going to stay under your control by itself. Surley you understand you can't just let someone come and take your Taiwan.
I truly believe Yao needs someone who can point him in the right direction, someone who can teach and show Yao how to keep working on his games and make himself better and better. Most importanly, Yao needs to develop that killer mentality, which happens to be, in my opinion, the single most important aspect of Yao's game that hinders him from being Yao we all want to see. Somehow, I don't think Yao can get that on his own. Either preached by someone who Yao cares and admires or Yao finally realizes that he needs to be the man after he go throught many, many games like that game last night. Deke can't help Yao in that regard. simply becasue Yao doesnt' understand a word that Deke is saying. Having another Chinese teammate can only make matters worse because Yao will hang out with him most of the time. In return, it makes harder for Yao to mingle with the right people if u know what i mean. I wish Yao's parents weren't in America with Yao at all times. I wish Yao could hang out with T-Mac more. but in the end, it's all jsut my wishful thinking. because I know after the game, he just goes back his home and plays his video games, hang out with his parents. Somthing has to happen in Yao's personal life to make him a better player. I wonder what would that be and when could that happen.
Yao could use a good dose of Kareem Abdul Jabbar, or Moses Malone. Hakeem has gone to live in Turkey, so I believe he is out. DD
I don't know why, but this thread has been stuck in my head over the last couple of years. Every time Yao does 'the clap', I think of it. I think that DaDa hit the nail on the head back then, but things seem different now. With Yao's increased ferocity and production, the clap no longer seems like the meek, submissive whimper of a child that just had his toy taken away. When I see the clap now, I know that someone is going to get dunked on.
Does anyone have a picture of "the clap?" haha... please frame it for me so I know what ya'll are talking about. "back then they didn't want me.. now I'm hot, they all up on me."
Back then, today...I don't know how someone can call it an "AWWW SHUCKS" clap versus a "FU$%, DAM(%@#$" clap. Mine look pretty much the same, except maybe I flex my jaw muscles a little more on the later.
Actually, Jordan isn't that far from Turkey. ps: My sarcasm detector is malfunctioning today (in case you were being sarcastic).
Exactly, even though the man is putting up career numbers, guys here have to analyse every nuance of Yao. Man, I'm glad Yao's favorite color isn't pink, no telling how long a thread like that would be.
Dude, you are reacting to a one year old post. Someone here has violated Clutch's rule of bringing up the dead.
Yao sure got a lot of mentors here. You know what, deep down inside, admit it or not, you all want to see a PCR product of Shaq out of Yao.
Yao Ming is Ok with me, I like the progress he is making and I think it will continue for several more years. The problem with all his critics is that they want him to be something that he isn't. He is Yao Ming a man from China adapting to an alien culture and to a way of sports that had always been alien to him. He is doing a very satisfactory job of adapting. Accept!
There has to be some provision for "then and now" threads. Yao clearly did not have the "I'm gonna get you sucka" mentality back then, and I think he is really starting to build it up now. This thread provides some nice context. I guess I could have posted a new thread with the title "Remember that thread about Yao clapping", but that just doesn't seem quite as catchy.
Yao could clap/react anyway he wants, as along as he's giving his best and continue to dominate...I don't give a sh*t! Hell, he could wear a john stockton's tight mini shorts for all I care.
I could've sworn, ain't you're a big fan of Yao now? I see some of your post praising him as of late. Boy how things change...
I don't think anyone is hating on Yao in this thread. He clearly lacked aggressiveness in the past. Some people, myself included, wondered whether or not he would ever develop a killer instinct. The jury is still out on that, but things are looking good.
Let's not keep digging up year-old threads, shall we? Especially when the thread's started by DD, who's known to react to the spurt of the moment...
