I've lost faith in Clanton at this point. With all the Rocket foot, ankle, leg and knee injuries over the last few years it's hard for me to have faith in this guy or that Yao won't break the foot again before you plays a full season.

This is a major procedure...they are basically changing his foot and they worked on the hairline fracture.

They said he can resume bball activities in 6 months, but I'm sure he'll try to before then...but the Rockets have to monitor him closely and make sure he allows it to heal completely and take his time.

I think Ilgauskus sat out an entire season after his bone graft...so it would be wise for Yao to do the same.

Sweet , I hope he make a comeback. Good centers are hard to find these days.

He might be able to start basketball related activities in 6 months, but that HARDLY means he'll be able to play in an NBA game. Basketball-related activities could mean anything from stretching, to simply catching and shooting a ball. There is no way Yao is going to step foot on the court for a game this season, so as Rockets fans, we need to be realistic. I'm all for optimism, and hoping for the best this year, but thinking that Yao might play is lunacy.

Get well Yao but damn this is his what 4th surgery?? Damn how much longer can a team stay committed to a guy who is a Bill Walton Jr. in the making. Yao may have a great personality and is a good guy but this is business also. If the Rockets are smart they'll let him walk or try to trade him for something.

Its sad that its the same foot and the same situation year after year. To Show loyalty to a guy who isn't even a 20/10 guy is just crazy. Idk what it is. Are the Rockets organization chasing money or rings.

He will never be fully healed. Hopefully I am wrong, but I wish the rockets would plan long term (years) without him and move forward.

So True. While the team still has one, let us hope He can still play for the next 5 years or until the team can get a deserving replacement. :D

6-8 weeks in a cast? Keep him in the casts for 6 months! I want him fully healed by next season!

Since Dr. Clanton did the surgery, I see Yao retire before he returns on the court. And why the hell did Yao not have Iguaska's doctor do the operation?

yes it is business...and Yao ming makes Les Alexander a WHOLE LOT of money so as long as Yao is playing basketball professionally in this lifetime, he will remain a rocket...its common sense...you don't trade a guy who makes you money...
oh and also, he is a top 3 center in the league...

maybe the rockets still have hope he will come back this year...I know Yao has not given up....the rockets dont want to say anything yet because of the injury exception they got from the league and also not to add any extra pressure on Yao....wishful thinking maybe...but I can Hope can't I

we'll be keeping him b/c no team is going to give us anything good for yao b/c of his injury history. keep him, hope he's healthy or develop into a super role player and sign for a smaller contract.

so you would rather keep a guy who could possibly break down again at any given moment considering he his basically playing 2 seasons a year for money??? What would you rather the Rockets do. Get money or Get rings???

I would say at least 80% of the owners will choose the latter. They are businessmen after all.

i would choose rings but owners are in it for the money..and if you owned the team you would be worried about the money too...
besides money, I am a big fan of Yao's ...injuries are a part of the game...its easy to root for a guy like yao...hard worker, great teammate..and when healthy he is a superstar....
i have been a season ticket holder for several years and I don't mind one bit of my money going to players like Yao..who play bball for the right reasons...just my opinion...you can disagree... :)

if Illguaskas can come back in 10 months, then yao can do it in 7 months or 8 months....with advances made over the last 8 years plus Yao works extremely hard....there is a chance
