Steinbrenner needs to learn that the postseason is won by great pitching...so until he fixes that mess of a rotation the Yankees aren't gonna win another title....and Torre shouldn't be blamed for that.
good point... it all came down to a 45 year old 30 million dollar hamstring that lasted three innings last night...
They've mentioned the Texans before and they never say for sure whether they're closer to Dallas or Houston. Most people think Arlen is close to both, however, from the clues given through various episodes, people believe Arlen is either Temple/Belton or somewhere north of Waco on the Brazos.
i agree that it's not torre's fault that the yanks haven't won the series lately but i do think it is time for new blood. as for this series, the yankees were bound to get to westbrook last night, they've done it before. and fortunately hughes came in after what's-his-name and held down the fort. it's all about pitching in the playoffs and the yankees don't have enough of it. but we'll see, maybe wang throws a gem tonight.
I wonder how long Byrd goes tonight. Hopefully, Eric Wedge isn't stupid enough to keep him in if the Yankees get 3 runs off him. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the Indians can pull it out tonight but I don't have a lot of confidence. The only hope that the Indians, their fans, and Yankee haters have is that Wang has nothing either and the game turns into a slugfest of like 10-8 or 11-9.
Cleveland will win tonight. Mark my words. If they don't win tonight, they don't win the series. I am fully confident that Wang has nothing in his gas tank, and that his psyche is shot after game 1.
God, I hope you're right. I am just afraid that with Byrd pitching, the Yankees will mop the floor with him and have all the momentum going into Game 5. Yet, if there is a Game 5, Cleveland can pitch both Sabathia and Carmona, which in my mind gives them a huge advantage. So, maybe Eric Wedge is doing the right thing here.
If it goes to game five could we see the debut of Jabaman starting? hum..... [edit] man! what am I saying?!?!?!? Lets just concentrate on tonight!
Except Wang is a completely different pitcher at Yankee stadium. Also, If there is a game 5, Pettite will probably throw some balls, he pitched well the other night. My guess: whoever wins tonight wins the series..
Nah, I think that if it goes Game 5, Sabathia will pitch the first 5 and then Carmona finishes the game which will make it very hard for the Yankees to win unless Sabathia and/or Carmona have an off game. It could be similar to what the Diamondbacks did in the 2001 WS with RJ and Schilling.
They won't pitch both Sabathia and Carmona unless they HAVE to.. They gotta save something for Boston in case they win. But I'm sure you'd prefer the Indians winning with both Sabathia and Carmona pitching, Manny Ramirez..
Honestly, yes I would rather face Cleveland than the Yankees and there are several reasons for that: 1) I do believe that the Yankees are in the Red Sox's head and to me the only thing worst than death is to lose in 7 games the ALCS to the Yankees. If Boston can avoid the Yankees, then life will be so much better and less stressful for me and all the people who are in my life, like my family. 2) Cleveland is my 2nd favorite team after Boston. Hell, I actually run a Cleveland Indians team in the OOTP simulation league (granted we are in the year 2052 but that is besides the point ), but if Boston can't make it to the WS, I would love to see Cleveland make it. There's nothing wrong with the Sox losing to the Indians at all in my mind. 3) Cleveland's sports teams' histories aren't the best (Cavs making only 1 Finals appearance and getting swept, the Browns have never made a Super Bowl and had the 2 gut wrenching AFC Championship Game losses to the Broncos in '86 and '87, and the Indians having won only 2 WS in their history, with the last one coming in 1948). So, hell yeah I am rooting for them. I get sick and tired of seeing the Yankees wanting to win another WS - they have already won 26. Let some other teams like the Indians and Rockies win - you know, teams that have never been to the Series or those that haven't won in a blue moon.
Sabathia and Carmona are not nearly as dominant as RJ and Schilling were. Although Carmona dominated them in game 2, the Yanks would've won if not for a swarm of Biblical proportions throwing Joba off his game. Besides, the Yanks have been able to score off Sabathia and Carmona in the past. For all those Steinbrenner haters... can you tell me seriously that you wouldn't want an owner that gave your team a chance to compete for a championship every year? The Boss of recent years also hasn't been quite the meddling owner he's been in the past - Cashman's clearly been given the transaction reigns, or else Hughes, Chamberlain and Kennedy would all be gone by now and we'd have Texeira and Gagme on the team.
