Yes, right after starting for the Denver Nuggets and proving that he could play in the NBA if he understood the system.
Yao played the whole second half in that game against Australia. That was 20 minutes non stop, and they were NOT calling time outs nearly as often as they should. While Yao needs to improve his endurance, he also needs to improves his coordination. At times, he looked awkward, maybe because he is half a step slow and try to make up. Somewhere I heard taking electric shocks can fasten one's reflex, maybe that is one thing the trainers should look into.
Com'on, the guy is a mongolian. He doesn't need to learn no freaking wrestling which comes with the genes. He can slam down anyone with ease. Just sign him!
I would say do that if Yao Ming was Ivan Drago. But though he looks like him I don't think he is. Yao seems more of a Balboa type. A guy who would rather run up mountains than run on a treadmill with electrodes attached to his body. A guy who would rather lift a wheelbarrow laden with boulders than be around machine weights. Yao seems to be more of a big-mac-double -cheese-with-pickles kind of guy who would benefit more from a good day of solid rowboating than a he would from a day in closed gym surrounded with machines and nutritious drinks and health bars. I hope one day that he will get back to nature to help him gain his strength. Rowboating upriver against a stiff north wind will build improve his strength and confidence.Working out in the gym everyday will build muscle but theres the risk that Yao will start to look like hanz and franz and start to look in the mirror eveyrday and may be tempted to ask for the juice. We can't have that.
shaq looks a lot more than 340... and i have seen him in person (at the williams trace and hwy 6 mcdonalds, it was the most random thing ever. he bought like a hundred happy meals or so...)
The last thing I need to see is a teary eyed Keith Jones on the news talking about how he discovered Yao's charred corpse in the training room after "something went wrong."
LOL! seriously, didn't bruce lee use electric shock to improve his muscle and quickness? that's scary.
I can PROMISE you one thing - Yao Ming can NOT bench 300+ ESPN said that Tiger was doing 325. Absolutely, no chance. I guess ESPN is like High School. They still want to talk about 'your Bench'
I am not concerned about the weight he can lift...but talking about his stamina has got me thinking...while JVG will run the offense through Yao, it is clear he will still need significant time on the bench. My thought is the Rox will leave Yao on the floor and allow him to catch his breath while TMac takes over the game. TMac obviously can do this for large stretches of the game and thus leaving Yao in longer to rebound and block. Any thoughts?
That's a pretty good idea but he still would get winded when they run/jog from their offensive and defensive end.
